2017 Lehigh RD Applicants' Discussion Thread

My son was waitlisted. Disappointing because he definitely would have gone there. Well, he’ll stay on and wait, but in the meantime trying to decide the plan B is going to be a bit of a challenge . . .

My DS was accepted! So happy to end on a positive note! But the process is not over. We need to see what the package is. His other top choice gave him a lot of merit aid plus a grant. When we get the package in the mail, we will see what it is and, if it is financially do-able, he will decide if he wants to visit again.

We don’t see on the portal where he was accepted to? He applied to IBE as first choice (obviously didn’t get that based on what I’ve read here - those acceptances sent out earlier) and then engineering (bioengineering). Is that online? I see someone posted that they were accepted into engineering…

Hey Gang…I saw here that the portal was up so asked my son if he had checked it lately. He checked and we were surprised that he was excepted!.. into engineering! Now I wonder if the school who put him on wait list is still his favorite…:)

As I said before, if this was your first choice and now it cannot be, you will pick another, which later, you will think “WOW, this is where I was meant to be”!..Blessings to you!

LINYMOM -

Congratulations! I’m also bioengineering and did not see anywhere if that is what I was accepted into until I paid my deposit and saw on the new portal (the one you see when you’re an enrolled student) that I was in the P.C. Rossin School of Engineering. So it’s probably safe to assume that if he applied engineering and was accepted, then he was accepted engineering. It may not be a bad idea to email, or something along those lines.

Got accepted but will not be attending. USC and UC Berkeley gave me substantial amount of grants and scholarships. Woohoo! Congrats to though accepted!

I just registered my portal today and also can’t view it…I assume that’s the problem. Hopefully it’s up and running by tomorrow.

Accepted! Financial aid will dictate whether I get to go.

I got my first rejection today. And it just so happened to be from my top choice school.
No Lehigh for me…

I really am hoping for a scholarship. I was rejected everywhere else except for state flagship +Drexel. Even my safety school Boston University rejected me.

I absolutely love love love lehigh! If i get in the IDEAS program, I’d even like Lehigh over the ivies which all rejected me.

I am sorry, but soon you will feel up to choosing a new school that will work for you.
Once you focus on that school you will feel your mood change…:)

I saw someone say that you could make another account to see fin aid info. Does anyone know about this?

Accepted! Now I have a choice between five different schools, although I’m essentially eliminating Rutgers, since they didn’t give me much in the way of money.
So I now have to choose between Lehigh, U. of Maryland, Northeastern, and Rowan. The first three are where the real choice lies. The amount of money I get from Lehigh (and need-based from Northeastern) will play a BIG part in this.

“We were impressed with your academic credentials, however, we are unable to offer you admission due to the high demand for international financial aid.”

Is there anything I can do? Will they reconsider me if I send extra information of my funding?

well,I guess you can appeal. Instead of requiring international financial aid, you can just withdraw your request if the tuition is affordable.

accepted and attending!

I was shocked that I was accepted! I applied for engineering and also got into TCNJ, Binghamton, and RPI. I was rejected from Bucknell (pretty sure due to aid reasons) and wait listed at Lafayette (don’t understand this either because it was a match for me) but I was genuinely surprised when Lehigh accepted me. RPI gave me good scholarships and grants but I could still use more…if the financial aid office brings it down a little more and Lehigh gives me good aid it’s gonna be a tough choice.

Accepted! I didn’t receive the email, just checked my portal. Not going to attend, anyway

Cchlloe - like you, 33 years ago I was wait-listed at Lafayette and accepted to Lehigh. I attended Lehigh and it was the best experience of my life (besides getting married and having kids, of course!). I have a great career, and my fraternity brothers from Lehigh are still my best friends. My S was just accepted to Lehigh, and I couldn’t be happier (and no, he didn’t apply to Lafayette!). While at Lehigh you will learn to DESPISE Lafayette! Don’t ever look back… you were accepted to the better of the two schools, and you will take great pride in berating, badmouthing, and belittling the Leopards for the rest of your life (all in good fun, of course - although in my day there were pretty violent fights over pieces of the goalpost that were ripped down after each Lehigh-Lafayette game - the most-played college football rivalry in the nation!).

CONGRATS to all who have been accepted, and WELCOME TO THE LEHIGH FAMILY! We are fiercely loyal to Lehigh and to each other, and it’s the beginning of a GREAT TRADITION for all of you that doesn’t end when your four years are over!

Got into the Lehigh IBE Honors program… choosing between that and UVA. Thoughts?

Hoping everything comes in the mail today…really wanna know how much $$$ I got lol…
