2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

Take whatever housing you get assigned to = good move. Transfers getting housing at all is a new phenomenon.

You are unlikely to get any of your preferences. When selecting housing choices that is not a current list of available housing.

Hi guys I have a few questions about financial aid… I submitted my enrollment fee without having received my financial aid package because I wanted to find house/sign up for registration ASAP! However, I am worried that financial aid will see this and think that I have enough money to pay for the school regardless, which I don’t lol… my friends said that they wouldn’t see the financial aid office wouldn’t see it that way, but I am still worried they will! What do you guys think? Also have any of you had problems with not getting the amount of money you need, has anyone gone through the financial appeal process, if so how did everything turn out? Thank you!

@scarletred having to wait until July sucks. It’s very odd that some people are getting decisions soon after sending their grades and others are having to wait weeks and weeks so I think your theory might be right. Hang in there!

@CC2USC I appealed my financial aid offer and it was rejected. I was offered only the usual loan payment options. I wasn’t offered any aid, so I deferred for fall 2019 so I can try and apply for scholarships to help pay the tuition for the year I attend.

@CC2USC I’m looking for a roommate possibly at the lorenzo…are you a guy or a girl? and in regards to your question about financial aid, I don’t think that will affect you. I committed before I received an award and I think I got a good one. but then again, I did it with the fee waiver. either way, I think they know you only have a certain time frame to commit so they wouldn’t hold that against you

@CC2USC that won’t matter. Aid is a formula, you either qualify or you don’t. Paying deposit won’t matter. It isn’t how things appear, it is the actual financial picture that matters.

Is anyone else a spring admit who wants to keep in touch!!

Sure… But I’d definitely an unconventional candidate. Read the transfer Stanford 2018 waitlist thread, and the standford transfer2018 threads last 2 pages

Okay I’ve asked this before but are there any more TTP (incoming sophomore) students here waiting for a decision

@MysteryO Yeah I know a ton that haven’t heard yet. I heard within 2 days but most of my friends are still waiting after 2+ weeks.

@JakeChi ahhh i wanted Cardinal Gardens 1B2P! I put it as my second preference, but got Troy Hall 1B3P instead.

@joeyfreshwater oh I bet it is b.c you are TTP. But any reasons are just speculation at this point lol I have no idea.

Hey all! I got housing at Cardinal Gardens! Anyone else hear back? 1B2P

Hi guys for those of you that sent an appeal is your portal suppose to change? Because my counselor replied “thank you for your email I’ll add this to your application,” but my portal never changed and I never received a confirmation email from the appeal committee (which I saw from last years thread some people did?)

hey. i have a question. im a sophmore (technically still freshman by credits) and even tho i did sort of well my first semester (gpa 3.54), last semester i completely just went down hill because of a lot of personal issues. so now my cumulative gpa is a 2.96. my question, would it be possible to bring it up before i apply again, is it even worth attempting to apply since i’ve done so poorly, or should i just give up on transferring? i really hate my gpa suffered as a result of circumstances beyond my control but it is what it is. i had and still do have dream of going here but it seems now, thats so far out of reach. any advice ??

@jayc3r thank you for your help… it looks like I may have to do the same thing): @dwightsbeetfarm Thank you for your help as well, and I am a girl lol I am assuming you are a guy? @CADREAMIN Thank you!!

Anyone (female) assigned Troy Hall 1B3P want to be roommates? I’m also looking into possible reassignment if anyone is interested in doing it with me. If anyone is looking for a roommate, please PM me!

@GraceBayville I personally do not remember my portal changing when I appealed a few years ago. I just received a similar email from my counselor. Something like “I’ll forward this to the appropriate appeal committee” and that was it. I did later get an email that my appeal wasn’t successful, but I had pretty much known that the outcome wasn’t positive as it was already mid-August.

@journalisticjay I wouldn’t give up. Sure, your GPA would be below the average, but I’ve seen lots of cases (even this year) where USC has shown how holistic they are in this process  You would just really have to bring those grades up and show what you can do during a semester without such circumstances making things difficult. Although, it would be a good idea to have some safeties as well. It’s great that some people are USC or bust, but that’s incredibly daring. In 2014, I applied to USC, UCLA, UCB, UCSD, and CSULB. CSULB was supposed to be safety pick, but they rejected me so fast. I didn’t get in anywhere else either. I had nowhere to go. I decided to stay at CC for another year and applied more broadly - adding more CSU’s and safety picks. All the schools that had rejected me the year before had accepted me. A year can really make a difference.

@journalisticjay it’s hard to give a yes or no answer to your question. The admission process does like a high gpa, but if your essays, letters of rec, and ECs all say you’re an excellent, well rounded candidate, it balances out. If you bombed classes that are directly related to your major that’s probably not great. You might want to check in with your current school and their policy on grade replacement if you retake one or two classes. Lastly, a quick explanation about your grades and personal problems experienced last semester would be good, but in most situations I’d recommend to avoid dwelling on it in an essay. Instead, let your other actions since the bad semester speak for you.

@JakeChi Hey! My bestfriend use to live there its great. Its right across the crosswalk and next to the USC village. Its’s very close to sca, dentistry school. There is a parking lot gated for car gar students that you obviously gotta pay for. Other than that theres a ton of street parking you can hustle for too. I love Car Gar actually putting is as my first choice for housing. It’s quick and easy to get into as in you can use a key for the gate or swipe. No need to check in guest either so thats great. Theres also tons of seats like patio lounging style and a outdoor fire pit. The dorms are nothing super fancy but, spacious and have a balcony if your not on the first level.
