I’m traveling this weekend and won’t be home for the game. However I have decided that I will be seeking out some great wings to cart back to my hotel room Sunday for the game - gotta represent the snacks!
But I love hearing what’s on the menu from others. Go ahead, wet my appetite.
We will be at our good friends house that we have gone to numerous parties at over the past 20 years. Super Bowl is always a big party there with around 30 or more people. They always have a betting pool and we have won some money over the years. There will be a lot of great beef and fresh fish and lobster on the grill as the host and a couple of other friends are big fishermen here in Southern California.
It’s not lack of interest in food, it’s lack of interest in the Brain Damage Bowl.
I’m going to be cooking and serving our church’s monthly community dinner on Sunday, but maybe I will use the Super Bowl as an excuse to pick up an order of Thai Chili wings at Bingas WIngas afterward. An indulgence I haven’t had for about 2 years.
I’m going to try a cioppino fish soup with crusty bread and have not as yet figured out my snack food. It will be just me and H so…
I live on a lake near the Minneapolis metro area and just about jumped out of my skin this morning because the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels were practicing their super bowl flyover maneuvers. They fly quite low, make scary turns and move really, really fast…totally cool.
I have pulled pork in the freezer that I made previously, so we’re having bbq sliders. Not sure what else, nothing too elaborate as I’m relying on Mr. Sabaray to do most of the work!
@kajon the Blue Angels come to our area for a festival. Watching them practice is the coolest thing ever.
I will be watching the super bowl, I such a goof, I’m glad we don’t have a party to go to because I really want to actually watch the game.
But, ugh! I’m trying to limit the snacks, we do potlucks in the summer, so I’ve kinda sworn off the snacks right now. That and the winter weight creep is real this year. :((
Spiedies and Buffalo chicken wings for our NY roots, vegetables with halibut mousse for our NW home. We’ll dvr the game and watch it (commercials and half-time show, ffw through the football) after we get back from Portland and get the snacks ready.
I will be fast asleep as it will be around midnight Dublin time. DH may stay up and watch with earbuds in the dark if he can get the game on his iPad somehow. I told him no matter how excited or angry he gets, he better not make a sound because if he wakes me up, it won’t be pretty.
Well, we are having a potluck, because my husband has invited 16 people to Philadelphia row home, lol! We are having shredded pork with provolone and broccoli rabe on Sarcone’s rolls (best Italian bread in Philly), Spaghetti with sauce, an as of yet specified Indian dish, an antipasto of meats, cheesed, peppers and olives and a Stocks pound cake because it is my husband’s birthday. (best pound cake in Philly;) Lot’s of beer and who knows what else.
It will actually be quite fun. It is a group of people we have know since Law school. People are coming in from NYC and the burbs.
I have fond memories of a year when we made gourmet “Jello shots” for each round of the playoffs and the Super Bowl. You can gel any nice drink with unflavored gelatin, chill it in a tray, then cut in squares.
The big hits were mimosa (fresh orange juice and Prosecco jelled together) and Key lime pie martini (vanilla vodka, sweetened Key lime juice, and cream, garnished with graham cracker crumbs).
A big YES to Italian hoagies. Spinach dip and buffalo chicken dip during all the pregame stuff, plus a weird appetizer we like: Lebanon bologna roll-ups filled with (Philadelphia brand) cream cheese. Victory beer (brewery is about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia). We always have Tastykakes in the house but I actually consider them more a breakfast food than a dessert (hangs head in mild shame) so will probably bake some brownies and sprinkle green jimmies on top. Dog has a spanking new Eagles jersey (we are not a family who typically clothes our dog, but this is a special occasion) and we will probably share some snacks with her.
I am also ordering large platters of Italian subs and am going to make a beef stew that has been a crowd pleaser in the past. There is a request for meatball sandwiches but thinking that is too much with the subs and stew. H will take care of the beer and I will do some basic appetizers — dips n’ chips and maybe some buckets of wings.
