2019-2020 USC Transfer

Are you a rising jr or sophomore? Also what’s your major? @gonnatranser

I don’t have an SGR but I emailed my USC counselor my spring semester grades (they came out last friday) on Monday but he hasn’t responded yet.

I understand that USC counselors are very busy now and I hope to hear back soon!

@sagaciousforever Been recognizing your name pop up on the thread. Hoping the best for you!

@transferusc88 You too! I wish that there will be a wave of acceptances this week or next week.

When people kept guessing that there will be a wave at the end of April, that is surprisingly not the case. Today is the end of April and May will be the month that we will hear back (admit, reject, or SGR) for sure.

@ily8853 I have 49 completed and 12 in progress

@ShawnUSC You have posted that same post 9 times.

@ShawnUSC I can’t tell you if you have a good chance. My GPA is better than yours and I can barely tell if I have a good chance. I’m not sure when they will ask for your grades but regardless you should send them in as soon as you get them. Just take a deep breathe and let the process happen on its own.

Ok so heres my full update:
SGR at ~5pm (got an email and then saw it on my portal)
3.9 (deans list) at a top 30 school. a bunnchhhh of extra curricular (exec board on my sorority, community service, started an all female publication, published articles, etc)
49 completed credits with 12 in progress (so I would be a junior next year) and 2 APs USC will count that my old school didn’t.
Realllly surprised considering I applied to cognitive science, which I am really well prepared for based on my classes taken and in progress.
I also went to high school that has a close relationship with USC. Super shocked rn

@shawnusc I will give it to you straight. Upward trend good, but you are competing against people that started out with a 4.0 or similar high gpa and didn’t need an updward trend to get better. They started off strong and stayed strong with some having difficulties to overcome in their personal life. And at a selective university an upward trend isn’t always a good enough thing to make a difference. But it is holistic, so ya never know.

@gonnatransfer I feel like they’ve been handing these out like it’s candy tbh.

@ShawnUSC Your upward trend is good and USC will acknowledge it. I am not an admission officer so I cannot tell you your chance of getting in. But if I were to be an admission officer, I would say your chance is higher than 50 percent if your essays, recommendation letters, and others are outstanding.

You will most likely get an SGR in May, and I am not sure when since I am not an admission officer. I would guess in early May or mid May. You might get an SGR because you are currently taking Business Calculus, which is the only major requirement for USC Marshall.

Just rest now and wait for the notification. I hope you have a backup school now and do not only depend on USC.

I am more worried about on-campus housing other than the decision. There is nothing we can do right now so just enjoy the last bit of your time before hearing back! Hang out with your old friends in case you transfer.

What???

@blueskies2day This is just a pure guess since @ShawnUSC really wants us to chance him/her. I just want to offer some encouragement.

Honestly whoever isn’t checking their portal and this thread every 5-10 mins like me just to see if SOMETHING has happened doesn’t want this as bad as the rest of us. (I feel so pathetic but I can’t contain myself from it hahaha) I hope everyone who feels as strongly as I do about this gets their dream decision soon <3 and I hope we don’t all completely lose our minds before that.

@ily8853 sounds eerily familiar. You’re spying ?️‍♀️. Jk!

can some of the pros on here help me out? i take my last final may 20, probs get my unofficial transcript soon after, then will send my grades ASAP. do they then take FOREVER to review those grades and make a decision?

I have a 4.0 this semester and am on track to maintain that

@gonnatransfer I have noticed it just depends. Some people will hear back immediately, some people don’t hear until July. It’s weird idk. You having a 4.0 and still keeping that, I don’t see why it would take forever. But then again, I didn’t expect someone with your stats to get an SGR in the first place so who knows.

@sagaciousforever The problem with anyone trying to come off as someone that has knowledge and experience with admissions and USC in general when they do not, is that it can lead people to false hope and utter disappointment later, which can have much more devastating consequences than the stress or anxiety people are experiencing now.

I have not recieved a SGR, but I was wondering what is the cutoff for grades? I dropped to a part time student, and I may get 2 B’s. We do not do + or - here, so that worries me. I had a 3.76 GPA from a state school’s honors college before this semester.
