2019-2020 USC Transfer

@stringtheories Like by cut off do you mean what is full-time and part-time? I know at my school full-time is any units 12 and above. Do you know how many units it is at your school?

@transferusc88 I meant the minimum GPA requirements, sorry!! I’m a Comp Sci major, taking Calc II right now which is a requirement, so I’m not sure if it’s acceptable to get a B in the class.

@stringtheories Gotcha! That I’m not sure about because I’m not a comp sci major. But I’ve heard with Marshall applicants, the Calc 2 grade is important. I don’t see where a B would hurt you but I could be wrong. Marshall applicants, does a B hurt you with Calc 2?

If @CADREAMIN took time to post and were to my questions/ concerns, I would listen and be thankful. This person has nothing to gain from helping us but, does so willingly from the kindness of their heart. We’re lucky to hear from this person. If you only knew how many years and time this person has invested in this forum to help students, you wouldn’t mistakenly say they don’t want you to get into the school. If honesty bothers you, don’t ask for honest opinions or chances.

@transferusc88 how many weeks left in your spring semester?

@woshua I end on May 31.

oh i c. Ours ends on the 16th of June I believe. @transferusc88

@woshua quarter system?

@ShawnUSC You are welcome and best of luck. Keep us updated about the result.

Also, @CADREAMIN offers help to us every day. He is the kindest and most helpful person that I have ever met in this thread.

Hi guys!

I haven’t been super active on this thread because of work but, everything is still the same on my end. No portal updates, no SGR, etc. However, I did try the housing thing and my ID didn’t work. I know it doesn’t mean much, if anything but I know some people were freaking out about their ID not working. I wonder if they’ve patched the website so we can’t do that or what? Not trying to get a whole convo started on that again though, lol.

I think we all need to calm down a little bit though. It’ll happen when it happens. Worrying about isn’t going to speed the process up, sadly.

Honestly college admission is a luck. I know someone who got into USC with 3.4 gpa as freshman applicant. And I know someone got into Yale but rejected to USC lol.

nah they’re 16 week semesters @transferusc88

@transferusc88 I dont think one B in calc 2 will hurt if everything else is an A. That’s my situation

i live close to USC and it sucks that i wont know if i got accepted or rejected till late june because of the SGR plus housing is soo bad for transfers. My parents want me to uber to class but I see that as a major waste of money and I feel like i wont make any friends!!! any thoughts???

@bissmiss Maybe look for affordable off-campus housing? Also, USC’s non-village on campus housing shouldn’t be that bad. Village may be just based on very small chance of luck.

@sagaciousforever im unsure of what to do right now for housing because i feel like ubering everyday would be a hassle! but thank you for your advice ill look into off campus housing although i feel like making friends will be hard either way ://// my brother graduated from usc in 2017 and he told me nobody talks to each other in class so i dont see any other way than living on campus but anyways thanks again!!

Does anyone want to go to USC simply because of the opportunities they provide us? I’m a marshall applicant and USC is my #2 choice turned into #1 choice simply because of their esteemed accounting program. I’m a marshall applicant who wants to declare accounting in spring 2020 and double major in Business and Accounting.

I think being at USC will make me live a happy and fulfilling 2 years because I heard the community is very connected with each other. Plus being in LA will give me numerous opportunities for internships and other prospects. Plus, I heard the class sizes are much smaller than UCLA or UCB so I’ll have opportunities to interact with my professors and engage with them on a personal level. This will help me out a lot when I’ll need recommendations for law school after I graduate.

I’ll still be appealing to UCB and UCLA but if let’s say I appeal successfully to both schools, then I’ll just forget about UCLA and decide whether I should go to UCB or USC. I’m leaning towards USC anyway because of how awesome the business program is and how much easier it is to get into accounting as well since it is part of Marshall.

USC is awesome! I want to make the best out of my last two years in undergrad at USC for sure!

@GoodAfternoonSir I have same feeling with you. My current school has a great opportunities but being in LA would be in another level. Cuz Los Angeles is a big city that many things can happen. And also USC is perfect because its in middle of LA and its “USC”.

@bissmiss I think we should make a group transfer thread if we get in and for other people who get into USC so we can get to know each other more and become friends.

@GoodAfternoonSir It’s true that USC has an amazing alumni network (especially post graduation), but one thing you should know is the competitiveness at Marshall.

I have a high school friend who currently studies at Marshall and he told me that people barely talk to each other in business related classes. USC Marshall’s curve is quite strict so we must study very hard if we both get in.

However, you can still find close friends when bonding with your classmates. It just takes time and commitment.
