2019-2020 USC Transfer

@transferusc88 lol, that makes sense. Idk that’s just something I heard somewhere on the Interwebs. Thanks for the answer! <3

@transferusc88 USC is very lenient on missing prereqs.

As for the lower division English class, I double checked with my USC counselor last year. He affirmed me that (if admitted) I can take the first english class at USC. Therefore, I think USC considers you holistically but lower division major classes are still very important. An applicant who did not take Business Calculus for Marshall, for example, may get automatic rejection( I am not 100 percent sure. It’s just might personal opinion. One may still get into Marshall without Business Calculus).

Overall, I think USC is more lenient on the english requirement.

Thus, USC is lenient on prereqs but you are highly recommended to finish your major prereqs.

I have a friend who got accepted to Marshall without the first english last year. He finished Business Calculus though.

Double check with @CADREAMIN as he might have expertise on the prereqs and major requirements.

Here’s me hoping that we all get in on the first wave of admissions. Marshall applicant over here btw. I’m screaming everyday decisions aren’t announced lol

@TheGoldenBoy I’ve learned to just accept the anxiety. I’ve been waiting for decisions since, like March. I do sometimes tell myself that there’s no package in the mail in hopes the Universe will do the opposite though, lol.

@sagaciousforever Gotcha. I didn’t understand how that was all working. Because the brochure says you know, “finish these prior” basically, but then at the transfer session they said “oh if it’s not required for your major, (me being Annenberg) then it’s fine to do it here. Including math”. So I was genuinely confused lol.

Still did all three though, stats is just IP rn, because I figured better to have it done. Thanks for clarifying that for me!

If we add an extracurricular to the common app will they see the change

@transferusc88 You are very welcome.

Yes, everyone’s profile is different so USC evaluates applicants differently.

I did not complete the lower division english class (Pepperdine’s first english class that I took could not transfer) and I am still fine as long as I completed Business Calculus (got an A).

However, I know for sure that finishing that lower division english class will make me more competitive in terms of admission.

@neilsola If it’s something important or major, just email your USC counselor.

I am not sure if they will still check Common App updates at this point.

@FemmeFilmFatale … hey, are you an SCA applicant?? I haven’t seen many fellow SCA applicants around!!

Ok I will

@transferusc88 Speaking about prereqs, UCs are very strict on missing prereqs. So many 4.0s got rejected by UCB and UCLA every year because of missing prereqs.( Example: not finishing UC’s second english class regardless of your major).

But I still somehow got into UCSD missing Calculus 2, Calculus 3, and UC’s second english class. I got denied by UCLA and UCB. It’s probably an automatic rejection for UCLA and UCB.

Going to bed soon. Sweet dreams.

@enigma1199 yes, I am! I’m going for Film & TV Production. We have a thread someone started, it’s not super active but there’s a few of us over there! Just search for SCA Transfer 2019-2020.

I wonder how many classes I’ll need to take each semester if I declare a double major in business and accounting.

I’m also wondering if I can talk to a usc counselor immediately about this

@FemmeFilmFatale I’m applying for Film & TV as well! This is both exciting and scary!

@GoodAfternoonSir You can take up to 18 credits a semester. While many 4 year USC students double it is still a challenge time wise. I am thinking since coming in as a transfer you may need extra time to complete a double major - not sure though, but after admitted you meet with an advisor to lay out a plan to see how it fits. If it takes more time (semester(s) or summer courses, etc), you have to decide if the cost is worth the double major.

@thanos So basically you’re saying that “Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same” right thanos?

So you need to meet the overall transfer requirements of USC transfers which are:

Complete the equivalent of USC’s lower-division Writing requirement, Writing 130.
Meet minimum Math requirement by demonstrating a mastery of Algebra II in high
school, or Intermediate Algebra in college with a grade of C or better.

Many majors require more math coming in, yours is not one of them.

@CADREAMIN Thanks for the link I’ll look!

Has anyone stopped to admire the USC student login screen? It’s soooooooooooooooooooo beautifulllll. It’s like laminated red or something haha. I love it!
