2019-2020 USC Transfer

@FemmeFilmFatale honestly you’re right. at this point, I’ll believe it when I see the status update email in my inbox hahahhahah

@atldreamer4 how many semesters does it cover for transfer students?

I’m a junior applicant with no SGR yet hope to find out soon cause I’m just taking one last pre req class for me.

@bksyazd there is no guaranteed aid or set time for aid. Aid is determined on each individual their CSS and FAFSA. And using CSS, many will be surprised to not receive aid or get much less than they thought. So it just varies per person. I assume a junior transfer can apply for aid for the remaining four semesters. Every year in both reg and transfer results there are so many accepted (yay!) but then don’t get the aid they thought so can’t attend. :frowning:

@USCAAA Junior, GPA 3.78, Econ 1st choice, Bus Admin 2nd choice
Major Related Credits 72
(I was in a separate medical program and changed majors, so I have many more)

@nervygirl1 I wasn’t informed through e-mail. I kept refreshing my portal…got the update around 9:50AM

@fuhnancy I’m a Marshall applicant I just wonder what will happen if you are taking a final pre-req class and my second back up major is intelligence and cyber operations. Also how do you know if you will get rejection?

Will there be an online notice today? My portal changed too.

@kcasssuu You get your decision by mail first. From what I’ve heard, your portal gets updated three days after it gets mailed. We have no idea where decisions will be mailed though.

Just hope they already mailed…the decision…like yesterday…

I got my decision on the portal before I got my package.

yeah, I heard it depends on where you live, sometimes you will get the decision before you get the portal update (both accept and reject), but for acceptance package, they use a more expensive mail service that is usually faster.

@jj1999 Guess it depends on your post office and delivery time then. I have a tiny PO Box at a Post Office that’s only open, like 4 hours a day. I think I’m going to see my decision on the portal before I get my package as well. Do you remember the rough date of when you got yours?

@USCAAA technically, I’m taking my last prerequisite in conjunction with Calculus 2 and Stats.

I know that USC has a more holistic approach to their admissions process. That being said, I am in the older pool of transfer applicants, and can’t speak to your current situation. I was in school for something completely unrelated to Econ/Bus Admin prior, and attended a university for a bulk of my educational career. I’m only at a CC to take the prerequisites in order to transfer.

When D received her admission decision, she received an email and her portal was updated. (All of this occurred at about 5 pm PST.)

The very first scan of her box on informed delivery wasn’t until 9:05 pm PST. (Same day as portal update)

I’m sharing this timeline with you all, with the hopes that it will ease your anxieties about when and how you will hear your decisions. Acceptance boxes are meant to be received prior to the portal update, but it is not always the case.

Some will have that mailbox moment, others will have a portal moment. Which ever one it is for you, embrace the moment. Until then, try to relax by doing something other than constantly refreshing your portal or informed delivery or college confidential.

Good luck

Can we receive a decision with missing financial aid documents? It’s asking me for a bunch of documents and forms that would take a really long time to gather and complete. I don’t want to invest all that time and provide them with all that info if I’m not accepted.

@whostolemycookie Financial aid and admissions are entirely separate. Having your financial aid package incomplete will not impact an admission decision. It will just delay your financial aid package.

sup guys,

I’m finishing my sophomore year at USC right now after transferring from a junior college in Santa Monica. Last year I was in your shoes, checking college confidential daily and constantly stressing about when my portal would update. It sucks that USC has such a slow transfer process.

I received an SGR late April and earned a C in a major pre-req my spring semester; I thought for sure I was toast, but my portal updated on July 11th with an acceptance letter. Their process seems excessively long, but it is truly holistic, and if you’re a good fit for the university, they’ll recognize that. Sometimes it takes two tries. Getting accepted is one of the most rewarding things you can experience, and a rejection just means you have another opportunity to show them why you belong there.

Good luck to all of you guys, and try to enjoy the ride!

My FAST page just updated to this:
Your financial aid application is currently in review. Please note: We will notify you during the review process if additional documents are required. Financial Aid Summaries for transfer students are usually available three to five business days after all required documents have been received.

So, it seems like everyone’s FAST page updated then. I wonder if it has to do anything with it being the first of May today?

Hello again…
So I called admissions to ask them the details about SGR bc I didn’t know how to submit it or who my counselor was etc… but I also asked her why I got one with stats above average (as a rising junior, too). She mentioned that, due to the huge scandal with Olivia Jade and her family, the admissions process has been extra slow and deliberate this year. As a result, they give SGRs for a bit more time to make decisions and she said they will be more common than ever :///
