@katyamzz if I had all that money I would donate a building like Dr Dre to get myself or my kids into USC other than that the fraud thing is a no from me
@kitty72 I’m from pasadena city college. my GPA is not high around 3.86 before applying. I would recommend you get a job related to your field and gain more experience but also keep up the good grades.
Have any other Viterbi applicants gotten an SGR on their portal
For those accepted, the applicant portal updated today with a link to the official USC 2019 Transfer Admits page on FB.
I applied Viterbi CS and have not received an SGR
So is only Dornsife getting accepted so far? Or has Marshall heard too?
@UniCoIn It has been mostly Dornsife with some sprinkles from Marshall so far.
@katyamzz Can’t imagine thinking, I’m not gonna go to USC, Stanford, Yale, UCLA or Cal, (or one of the other schools involved) etc, cause a couple people got in by fraud. There were a lot of schools involved, USC gets more press cause of the Hollywood types involved and people love to hate on success. People at other schools paid way more, but you don’t hear about them…ah the plague of people getting news off of the internet is something one has to figure out and sort through…but that’s another thread.
The thing is you have a full ride to Cal and that’s fantastic. I don’t think you can make a decision until you know your FA at USC, and if similar go where your heart wants to go. If there is a big difference, you may need to go where your wallet wants you to go. I wouldn’t look for reasons not to attend one or the other, look for the reasons you want to attend one or the other.
@vegastransfer Can you please post a link to the fb on here? I can’t commit for another week or so but I’ve been searching for it for days now
Has anyone gotten their financial aid yet?
@katyamzz If USC will give you a great financial aid, I think it depends on if you like to learn econ or business. Personally, I think business is more applicable and interesting to learn.
If you got into Haas, I would definitely pick UCB over USC.
@jkwizzle It won’t allow me to post the link on here, but if you go into your applicant portal it should show up on the top right corner of the page.
regarding the scandal, usc has always been renowned for people paying their way in. how do you think usc became so widely regarded in so little time? big donations from big people.
personally USC has never been on the top of my list because of that culture. i’m not saying that majority of people pay their way in, it’s just having that culture embedded into the ecosystem gives me weird vibes. also imo it’s not fair to say that Cal was in the scandal - to me the difference between Cal and a lot of other schools is that no official at Cal was bribed.
that being said i’ll take a full ride, their engineering department and alumni connections are great.
@CADREAMIN What day should we expect a wave of decisions this week? Towards the end maybe?
@TheGoldenBoy I am guessing Wednesday since USC likes to send decisions on Wednesday.
But anytime this week is possible.
hi. I got an SGR on April 13 and my spring grades will be completed by May 25. If I send them in then, shouldn’t I hear back by May 31??? or because of the fact that I got an SGR affect my admission decision to be pushed back into June and July??? just trying to be realistic
@ttpbaby23 most likely will be June or July
Messaged my counselor about my application for Marshall, to see if a decision had been made on it.The response I received was
“You’ll receive an update on your application by the end of May.”
Do they send out rejections in May? Can anyone decipher this (if there is anything to decipher, lol) ?
@ckidd1991 i don’t believe there’s anything to decipher. people will receive either their acceptances, rejections, or a SGR by the end of may, as usc has always maintained.
They send out most rejections typically around May 24th, has been that day (plus or minus one) for years. Could be different this year, with them being a week later than usual, or they may catch up and do it around the same time. And in the past they have sent a lot acceptances starting around May 20 and running till end of the month. And yes, they still send some SGRs at that time. It’s a long ride, but the majority know their fate May 31.
Hoping Annenberg gets some news this week! Viterbi more likely mid to end of next week.
