Hello everyone. Just a quick question… how much does legacy matter when it comes to the application process. Can people with TTP/ legacy get in with a lower GPA rather than those who don’t have it? Thank you in advanced.
I spoke to my usc counselor and she attached a .pdf explanation to my application saying,
"I am currently a sophomore at (blank) Community College and have been taking classes there since my junior year of High School. For the Spring 2018 semester (junior year) I was only enrolled in ten units and I am a little concerned you might view this in a poor light as a break in my full-time education pattern. That semester I was unable to get two of the classes I wanted to take, even via wait-list or late-start, so I ended up only taking 3 classes (3, 3 and 4 units). At that point I already had 39 units so was well ahead of my trajectory to obtain a minimum of 60 units by the end of this school year. I have also worked whilst studying since I turned 16 and as it was a fairly busy period I didn’t really worry too much about the lower college workload. I have to admit that I didn’t really understand that this might be classified as ‘part-time’ education, and I certainly didn’t expect it to interfere with future university applications. Is it possible that this could be overlooked? I will have a total of 89 units by time I complete the current semester. I realize not all of them are transferable.
I thank you very much for your consideration on this matter.
(my name)"
I have a 3.96 and I have not been spring grade requested for Marshall school of Business . Will being a part-time student for one semester effect my chances of getting in?
Any ideas? @CADREAMIN ?
I applied to Marshall but had to withdraw from my accounting course. will this affect my decision and if I were to get accepted, can they revoke that?
@lolallama23 which accounting? financial or managerial?
i know its recommended but does it matter as long as theyre not prereqs?
Hey guys, this might sound dumb but when I applied I went through common app and put my
Major as business. There was nothing I had to click to apply to “Marshall”
From what I thought it should be automatic, applying as business major is applying to Marshall, and no additional steps are needed right?
@bballboy98 Bro, you ask that question like everyday. Yes, you’re fine. One B ain’t going to kill you or ruin your chances… Your gpa is still well above the average transfer gpa.
Any admitted Marshall’s get their financial aid package yet? Or know when it comes out
If I am pursuing an internship in the Spring Semester, you can imagine how that messes a lot of things up such as SGRs and Marshall applications (usually looks at grades and essay). How would you go about this particular scenario?
@katyamzz Dornsife admit here. Still haven’t received my financial aid summary. It says 3-5 business days. If I don’t get the summary today or tomorrow, I’m definitely calling. I need it ASAP.
So I’m a dornsife applicant I submitted my official transcripts and everything I’m taking 17 units this semester but my semester ends in June. Haven’t gotten an SGR Do you guys think this is bad news for
Me?
i haven’t heard anything back from usc yet… not even a sgr… is this bad? i applied to dornsife (non-ttp)
I am also waiting Dornslife (non-ttp no SGR) I have 60+ transfer credits. I did get a update from FAFSA that states a college has made changes to it my EFC dropped in half not sure what that means as far as acceptances I still have a few decisions pending.
I have a quick question that is not limited just to USC - is a 3.73 gpa with 23 honors units and 67 units (up to spring semester as a freshman) a jump from a 3.41 gpa uw and 1300 sat in high school? (long story if you want to ask why I have so many units already)
thank you
Dornsife – haven’t heard back. My FA is “in review” too
does anyone know when the next dornsife decsions will be sent out
@bballboy98 Just on the other side of things, I applied as a Dornsife major and was “possibly” rejected for getting a B. I had a 4.0 prior to the spring semester. People can get all A’s and still get rejected after an SGR. USC decisions are that unpredictable. One B shouldn’t hurt you, as yes, your transfer GPA is above the average. However, there are no sure things with USC.

I think this just sold me for USC Marshall vs. UCB Econ or Haas tbh (kind of seems underfunded). The USC alumini connections are unparalleled and resources are out of this world! I feel so lucky to have been accepted! Trojan Alumini network is unparalleled! FIGHT ON!
If you don’t mind me asking, I am also a political science major, but I have not heard back. What are your stats? and what school did you go to? @maheralsakkaf
@zettasyntax Did you receive a SGR the first time you were rejected or were you straight up rejected?
