2019-2020 USC Transfer

Really hoping we have some decisions out tonight!!

FASFA is so frustrating. I cannot afford USC but didn’t get any fasfa out of high school so my parents didn’t even do the application this time around. Luckily I have a generous merit award from the school I’m at now. I’m gonna be bummed if I get into SC and simply can’t go because of money ;(

@vegastransfer they said they were half way through with my financial aid package and to check on Friday! Lol “3-5” days… more like a full week haha

Any other Marshall applicants get admitted yet? Hopefully another wave comes out but for reference I was admitted on May 1st (this was the wave for junior transfers) Let’s start a group chat.

I swear if more decisions don’t come out today I’m going to have a full on breakdown lol. like this wait is legitimately unbearable.

Transfer merit is 40 (forty) 1/4 tuition scholarships given out in June as @vegastransfer mentioned. They are given out at all at once. I think June 8 last year maybe…a little foggy but it seems like 8th or 10th is what I recall.

FA is usually a week after acceptances, maybe they have 3-5 days posted, but has always been more like a week. As a CSS school, a lot of applicants are surprised as expected aid often doesn’t match up because predictors rely on just FAFSA info. USC uses CSS and their own parameters. So just saying, be prepared.

Folks considering double majors/minors, etc., need to talk to advisor about this which you can do once you get there - I see more people confused about this than anything else. Lots of people double major or minor, but the requirements are more than they think. Especially more challenging for transfers. Each major has to have x amount of unique courses, courses in one look like they will, but often don’t often count for both. An advisor can work it out with you and then you can determine if it is worth staying longer ($$$) if that is what it takes.

@gonnatransfer - if you don’t qualify, you don’t qualify - and that’s what it sounds like will happen with USC. There is gift aid, but that tends to be distributed in limited form and to certain individuals. Merit $ for transfers is limited to like 14K a year, leaving 43K in tuition alone, not counting room/board/books and other things to include in COA, so more like 64,000 per year even if one get the 1/4 merit scholarship, but nothing else. COA at USC is $77,459 for next year. If you have good merit where you are - that may be the play.

It’s kind of making me mad how long they are taking with these decisions. I feel we as applicants deserve better.

@bksyazd Well to be fair, they did say you’ll get a decision by the end of May 31 so they’re not really doing anything wrong.

welp it’s 4:54 and I guess we’ll see what happens, if anything, in 6 minutes!

Wow nothing again smh…

Nothing either. ?

Nothing :frowning:

@transferusc88 Aw, I was hoping you’d find out today!

oh my god STILL nothing. this is legitimately enraging

nothing

Remember @CADREAMIN said to hope for Thursday? Maybe that’s it? If not, there’s no pattern. ?

We all need to breathe and assume the notification date is May 31. It is only May 8 and they have 3 weeks left until May 31 which we knew was the deadline when we applied. If we are lucky and they notify us earlier, great. But otherwise, it will limit the stress!

@HeyItsNick It just sucks that some people already found out, you know.

@katyamzz That is interesting that they told you to check on Friday. The USC financial aid office is closed this Friday because of their commencement ceremony. Maybe their release system is automatic? I finally received the email that my summary was released at 1:30am this morning. Even though I already saw it yesterday.

@FemmeFilmFatale Yeah, I completely agree. But at the same time, some people will be waiting until July. It is just so much easier and less stressful to expect it at the end of May instead of getting angry every single day it doesn’t come out.
