@flashyT Transfer apps were due Feb 1st. In addition they processed 65,000 applications for regular decisions, with scholarship recipients end of January, and March 23rd for regular decisions. They host all their accepted applicants at Explore and they do travel recruiting for the next year…when did they have all this time? This isn’t IBM, it’s just like 20 people doing all this.
I think the scandal is yesterday’s news except for those into Kardashian/TMZ type stuff that are following LL and FH. No one can name the 48 other parents that paid even more at 12 other schools, they just love to hate celebrities and rich people. Age old past time. Except Georgetown seems to be in the news today as one of the parents accused of paying 400k to get kid in is now sueing the school. lol. Still statistically, the # of people that did wrong is so tiny in scheme of things and none of these people actually took someone’s spot, they made room for them. Most people have moved on from this story except yahoo news, which isn’t real news anyway.
@FemmeFilmFatale is on it in terms of USC. My guess is they could have quoted that profile without looking at it.
I think we do not know enough about USC response to the scandal to know whether it affected transfer applications or not. We know that some administrators have been fired - but only those mentioned in the news are known. It is completely possible that others not mentioned in the indictments have been either disciplined or let go and we just do not know about it. If there are fewer people to handle admission decisions, or more hoops to jump through, it could considerably slow down admission decisions.
@FemmeFilmFatale Actually, if they are behind and are double checking, yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t even gotten around to some of the transfer apps yet. While not really evidence, this was my story from a couple of years ago. I had submitted my GED the first time I applied and when I applied a second time, it was still showing up on my portal that I had submitted it. I get an email on May 8th from my admissions counselor that he doesn’t have a copy of my GED on file. This would strongly suggest that he might have just gotten around to my file on May 8th if it took that long for me to be notified of a missing document. I’ve also always wondered if this is why my admission decision came after their deadline. I seriously thought they forgot about me/my application, so I called on hmm, maybe June 3rd and received a decision days later (on June 6th). Very coincidental, haha. I’d only suggest calling the admissions office if the deadline has come and gone and you still haven’t received any kind of decision.
Also, totally unrelated, I recently found out that my admissions counselor was part of this whole admissions scandal. I knew there was something I didn’t like about him.
Hey can anyone tell me the name of the counselor who usually responds? I think his name is David something. I sent an email with compelling new information to the counselor who’s in charge of my area but she never responds back to me so I really don’t know if she reads them or not.
Woah guys, I just checked out the Counselors page in the USC page and the counselor responsible for my area disappeared! No wonder she hasn’t responded to my emails for some time!
I just forwarded my email to the counselor who’s jurisdiction is the closest to my own location.
@GoodAfternoonSir The same thing is with my counselor! she hasn’t responded to me in 2 weeks and she’s not on the website anymore either. Who’s your counselor?
@GoodAfternoonSir That’s my counselor too. I’m going to call admissions and see who I should contact. I’m not sure what to do right now lol She was so responsive then just randomly stopped
@GoodAfternoonSir I just spoke to admissions they said they have no notification that she’s not with them anymore and the woman on the phone was super confused but she said she sees she’s been out of the office for a bit and saw she wasn’t on the website so she gave me the email of one of the directors to contact with any questions etc. for the time being.
