2019-2020 USC Transfer

I didn’t get a decision yet. I’m a marshall applicant. I’m so worried now…

@FemmeFilmFatale yeah I’ve heard somewhere that SCA’s acceptance rate is like really, really, really low… that plus the wait is extra nerve-wracking!

@HeyItsNick I didn’t ultimately live on-campus. I was pretty local, so I had the option of commuting. Things seem to have gotten substantially worse for transfer housing. I remember when I first started posting on here, a lot of transfers did usually get at least one of their housing options. That doesn’t really seem to happen very often anymore. As a spring admit, I was offered “temporary” on-campus housing as I didn’t get any of my choices. I really have no clue if this happens today as it doesn’t really seem like USC has the space. I would have taken the housing offer, but it was a bit too social for my liking - I could have had 5 other roommates. That was a little much for me. I would have loved to live in the apartments near USC, like Gateway. The price was a bit out of our budget though. A lot of transfers do ultimately end up at apartments or make other arrangements because on-campus spots just seem so limited.

I didn’t get a decision yet and I’m Dornsife sooooo I’m rejected LOL

Congrats to all acceptances!!

I didn’t get anything either. Is it safe to say that I’m rejected. I mean more people are rejected than accepted

@90smix You never know until all decisions come out. Keep your head up

Congratulations to everyone who received their acceptance!

Was anyone accepted with an SGR or WGR? Or was everyone accepted as is?

@tabe17 I don’t think SGR students will hear back until June or so.

Hey Marine,
LSP is the Leadership Scholar Program, it’s offered at the base education (for Marines only). Basically, it’s supposed to be a program that links high performing Marines to highly selective schools across the country. USC is a participant in the program. Your application goes through Dean Aaron Brown.

Daughter got admitted yesterday after WGR in April . Sophomore TTP transfer from UC.

Congrats to all who got accepted.
Good luck and vibes to all those still waiting!

@90smix arent you going to Cal?

@suzuki7 Congrats to your daughter. Has your daughter sent the WG? And how long after sending it she got the acceptance?

Does anyone think there will be decisions today?

@pesona She got the WGR in mid April and sent it immediately. Took a while to get updated on the portal (almost 2-3
weeks that too after we called)

I was admitted last night into Marshall. I finished my sophomore year at Southern Methodist University in the Cox School of Business with a 3.84 GPA. I did not receive a SGR. I am so excited to be a Trojan. Best of luck to everyone else waiting to hear back!

Damn. I didn’t receive any decision. But congrats to all those who did. It looks like my Watch begins again lol

@lookingxaround Conrats on your choices, follow your heart, it is a personal decision. And know that sometimes the best decisions, particularly at your age, are the ones that make you excited but also a little scared. College is a time to grow - you aren’t restricted with house payments, a job, family, wee ones running around, etc. It is the best time to spread your wings with little risk because it is such a short time - even shorter for transfers. Hope you end up where you want to be!

@suzuki7 I see. Thank you!

@HeyItsNick - Certainly not for sure, but for those getting admitted at this time and later, housing will be a challenge - it is already full so you are at the mercy of spots opening up. Sometimes a random spot won’t open up till late July for example, and if you wait till then to find something else it can be pretty grim. When admitted, call housing and ask what your chances are.

University Gateway is as close as you can be to campus, it is a shared apartment situation, 2 to a room usually and an apartment of 4 is typical configuration. Cost about 1250/month if I remember right. Singles are close to 4k, so most don’t do that obviously. One of mine lived there when they moved out of dorms as sophomores (they didn’t want to be on campus). You will find cheaper housing if you fill a spot in an individually owned house or apartment and just have to check online sites for that. So you can find places for 700-800/month, just more of a hunt and choices dwindle closer to August. Also, remember most leases are for 12 months there. Gateway has a 9 month, you just pay more per month to do that.
