@transferusc88 I think you are way more likely to get into Annenberg (just intuition and a bit of a guess, ha) but even if you got Dornsife, time frame would be the same - in the next week or so. Just because you didn’t hear anything yet doesn’t mean Dornsife is off the table as a second choice. While a second choice can happen, I think first choices are way more common, particularly for transfers (obvious time issues to complete if you try to change to first after admitted). Where second choice is more in play is for majors like SCA which has an acceptance rate like Harvard 2-4% depending on which program within it. So for schools with lower rates (SCA & Viterbi) it is more common to see a second choice come into play that between two schools that are comparable in terms of the difficulty to get in. In regular decision, students may get admitted undecided but as mentioned above, time is too short to do that for transfers coming in with a lot of credits. So I feel you are more likely to get Annenberg (and I am feeling it), than to be bounced to Dornsife, but Dornsife is still possible, even now and until the 31st!
Friends, in general how generous is USC usually with out of state transfer credits? I only got 16/58 at the time which has been by far the lowest. One ivy accepted 42… Lots of classes still are not evaluated and set as UNKNOWN. But a general idea would be great.
@CADREAMIN Always making me feel better with the info!! Thanks so much
I’ll be sure to keep you updated on what’s happening!
@Snekfest If nobody on here knows then I’d definitely email a counselor asking where you can see out of state courses that will transfer. I’m not really familiar with all of that because I’m in state, but I’m sure somewhere there’s something that can help
@nathanrodmar Oh so for active duty Marines then? I got out a few years ago, so just hoping the vet thing helps. I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it.
The portal is the same portal used to submit the financial aid documents right? Lol
@CADREAMIN Thank you
I’m still appealing to UCB too.
@Snekfest How did you find out about your credits??
@okurrr Aw, thank you! And thanks to everyone who agrees.
Not to sound like a creepy Internet person but, if any of you women are interested in rooming with me, hit me up. Y’all seem cool, lol.
@Sana415 Hasn’t it always been by June 1st? When I had a phone interview with a prof from SCA, he said to expect to hear something by the end of May. That’s basically May 31st in my opinion, lol. Hoping for sooner than later though.
@CADREAMIN Is University Gateway safe? My big concern with housing is that I’m 18. I’m not the average age of a transfer and living off-campus totally freaks both myself and my parents out. Also, how are you able to get to campus from there? I’m not taking a car due to driving inexperience (lol) so, I’m not quite sure what to do in this situation. I know they offer a Lfyt/Uber service but does that extend off campus? Housing is a really, really big concern of mine.
@FemmeFilmFatale I’m an SCA applicant and never had an interview. Do you happen to know if that is standard, or was it a unique situation?

^^ this is the link of articulation agreement. I used this page to see if my classes are transferrable.
@elessar2 I’ve read a lot about them on here from previous years. I think it might depend on who looks at your app? I know some people have gotten in without them and some people have gotten rejected with them.
We talked a bit about it in this thread that’s been super helpful for SCA transfers: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/2139821-usc-sca-transfers-2019-2020.html#latest
It’s hard to say not to worry about it but who knows with SCA? It has such a low acceptance rate it’s hard to tell if anything gives you an edge or not.
I’m a Film and TV Production major btw, not sure if your selected major changes that or not.

Hey everyone, I need your advice.
So I sent an email to Maria (USC Admission Counselor) about significant and compelling information not present within my application. I haven’t received a response yet and I assume that It won’t be read since they’re so busy. What I’d like to do is send this in under “Gap Year Explanation” and turn it in so that I can ensure they’ll be able to read this.
What do you think?
@GoodAfternoonSir I did the exact same thing so it will get read. I included a letter explaining why I have a W on my transcript under “Mid Year Grade Report” because nobody had answered my initial email and I put it in the form of a letter. I say, go for it. It won’t hurt.
I do suggest that you make it into a letter format and address it to admissions, since it is being uploaded on the application. Makes it professional.
@GoodAfternoonSir I kind of think they’ve may have made deicisons already. I might save this information in case it is needed for an appeal. I know you really want them to see it but, I wouldn’t want to bug them by contacting a bunch of different people.
Just my two cents though.
@FemmeFilmFatale @GoodAfternoonSir Okay yeah I agree with that. It is kind of late in the review process now. I did mine back in early March. I mean, if it’ll make you feel better than go ahead and do it. If you do, post it then email whoever it is you can get in contact with (since we found out Christine is MIA currently) and say you had posted an update to your application… blah blah blah (whatever you feel is right to add). But yeah, I agree with @FemmeFilmFatale saying don’t bug too many people.
@FemmeFilmFatale Gateway is literally steps away from the campus (like just 1 block?). There’s a CVS and some places to eat (I seem to remember a 24/7 Subway?). I’d consider it way safer than say, the Lorenzo. That area wouldn’t really be safe to walk around alone at night. I used to attend a CC near there and it’s really just not the best area. Anyway, yeah, the Gateway could basically be considered on-campus with how close it is, lol.
@zettasyntax Yeah, I saw a Subway on their site. And a Blaze’s Pizza! Thanks for the information. That’s really, really helpful. It looks like a really good alternative and the prices aren’t that bad for what it is.
--------Posted This Earlier, But Got Pushed Down ------------
Hello Everyone,
I have been reading this thread since the start of the decision period - from May 1st.
Since everyone is posting and because it was helpful for me, I thought I should post too and also I had a couple of questions.
I got accepted to USC - Marshall School of Business as a transfer going into sophomore year. I did CC for one year and then am planning on transfer to USC. I am still waiting to hear back from Cornell, so I can make my final decision after I head back from them - however, they may send me the decision after the USC Reply date of June 1st.
The question I had was that I am not an American Citizen yet, so I do not get any financial aid, which means no aid from FAFSA or from USC either. I know USC has the quarter scholarship for transfer students, so how can I check if I did get it? The cost is about 70K a year and that times three years equals a lot of debt! Is there any other scholarship you guys know of that can help me finance my education. I can list some of my stats below:
I graduated high school as a sophomore, when I was 15 years old. Right now I am 16 years old in my first year (second semester) of college at a CC. I run an investing firm which trades in stocks, forex, and cryptocurrency. Also did a moderately - large project for the rivers of India. Was JV Captain in freshman year of HS for tennis and Varsity the next year. Started two clubs. Speak 4.5 languages. I have created and managed a project for starting a large Ethereum mining operation in Washington State.
ACCEPTED
College Transferring From/Type:CC
Entering As: Sophomore
GPA: 4.00 (expecting 4.00 second semester; possibly one B in a lab class)
Units Completed/Degree: 15
Units in Progress: 18
Letters of Recommendation: 2, I believe they both were strong - one was by my HS Principal and the other was by one of my investors.
Essays: They were definitely different than the norm. Pretty much all I can say. All of my cousins and friends hired college counselors to help them (paid 3-4k) and they did not get into UCB, UCLA, USC, or any Ivies.
I am a bit surprised that the admissions team based their decision on the information they had. I had two years of data from high school (freshman and sophomore year) and one semester of grades from CC. They did not send me SGR (Spring Grades Request), but had the contingency of a 3.30 GPA this semester. Is this normal?
