2019-2020 USC Transfer

I wouldn’t worry too much about the W. I had one W on my transcript (not for a requirement) and didn’t offer an explanation. Now I’m not saying that you should not or that other applicants should brush off Ws, but I don’t think it’s too concerning if you have only one or two of them.

@mase31 Thank you for that  Yeah, a lot of people are telling me it’s not going to be an issue considering the circumstance. I just included the letter so then it showed I was concerned about it, and wanted to emphasize it’s not a habit and will not be. I agree that one or two W’s are really not a big deal, I mean I got into UCSB even though I have it and I didn’t send them the letter.

@transferusc88 @FemmeFilmFatale we register on transfer day, but I’m currently looking through the class schedule and most classes are full. do we get an add code or something???

@okurrr @FemmeFilmFatale Maybe they like, have more classes and they just aren’t on there yet? Like maybe there will be another group that shows up for the transfers because idk how that’s working, and all I gotta say is if I’m paying this much in tuition, I better have at least 5 classes lol.

i’m already stressing out about the fall semester and the semester hasn’t even started lol

While we’re on the topic of classes, what’s the deal with the “you have to take 2 GE’s at USC”?? Like, if I’m admitted, can I take them over summer at my CC and get the paperwork to get that approved, or do they mean physically on the campus USC only? I mean honestly, I’d rather pay almost nothing to get those GE’s done at my CC and focus only on major classes at USC. I’m done with my GE’s as of Spring anyway so are they really going to make me retake 2 lol? Confused on that, because I’d be a junior transfer so… there’s no more GE’s for me lol

@CADREAMIN do you know how this works?

"Transfer students must complete two GE courses at USC Dornsife College from among the six Core Literacy categories. " This was on the Transfer Brochure on the USC website. It doesn’t really say why

Is there any chance that some major classes will meet GE requirements? Finished all the USC GEs and was hoping I dont have to take extra classes that I’m not interested in, just to meet the GE reqs

It looks like a lot of the accepted students are transferring from community colleges. Could it be because the wave is primarily from the community colleges pool? Or it’s just there are this many of cc applicants inherently?

@Aprilli There have been multiple acceptances from 4 years. The transfer pool in general is mostly from cc to earn a 4 year degree.

@CADREAMIN @zettasyntax I saw that several people from USC Marshall have been looking me up on LinkedIn. I just made a LinkedIn so I wasn’t able to fully update it and all it has is my name and schools (college and hs). And I still haven’t heard back, I am looking to be a Sophomore transfer. How should I interpret this? Is this a good sign, or should I give up hope and expect a rejection?

Just curious but was anyone that was accepted a Spring Admit? If not, I think the next pool of acceptances will be Spring admits.

@Becausethety Based on last years thread, most spring admits were those who received a SGR.

@GotYa55 Oh shoot. Looks like I’m out then. I didn’t get a grade request or a decision.

@Becausethety You’re definitely not out yet. May isn’t over yet. Just stay patient! I hope you receive good news soon

@GotYa55 Thank you! I hope you get good news too. People always say CC is so negative, glad this thread keeps the positivity going! Regardless of who gets in or not, USC is gonna get some great students from this pool.

Just a question, is it necessary to have a car if youre attending? I cant drive yet

@jj1999 no it’s not…

I was accepted to USC Marshall and I got the email on Friday as I stated in a previous post. I was wondering if I also get an acceptance letter/packet in the mail?

^^^ yes you will!
