2019-2020 USC Transfer

No car needed. Mine took one as sophomore because she had internship in Hollywood several days a week. My others took one junior and senior year just to have for shopping and adventures, but you can get by all four years without one. Plenty of people have cars but with uber, lyft and campus cruiser there isn’t a need.

I have not heard back from Viterbi school yet. Does it mean that I should assume I will get rejected?

@Adm1010 Viterbi has not released decisions yet. Not to be rude but, please read the last twenty pages or so of this thread. That question has been asked and answered quite a few times. Most of the schools haven’t released their decisions so, we all just need to be patient.

@okurrr I found it incredibly easy to get classes at USC :smile: I also had the opportunity to experience how things work at UCLA for transfer students. USC was farrrr better when it came to class registration (at least in my opinion). I got every single class I wanted. I wanted to enroll in some Viterbi classes since I was interested in switching to the brand new computational linguistics major. All it took was a simple phone call. At UCLA, they basically just handed me a paper and said to only pick classes from there. I felt so restricted. Definitely not the case at USC. They do save a lot of spots for transfers in GEs and other important courses. During transfer orientation, registration is restricted to you guys, so you’ll have first pick of these newly opened spots. And yeah, like @transferusc88 mentioned, you HAVE to take 2 GE’s at USC. There’s no getting around that. So nobody on here is going to be done with all of their GE’s, unfortunately. You all have at least 2 more to go at USC. The good news is that you can pretty much take any GE category to fulfill this requirement, so you can pick areas where you’re actually strong. Back in my day, the mandatory two GE courses had to be from the areas of “Social Issues” and “Science and Its Significance”. Luckily for me though, I was able to use linguistics courses to cover these, so some of my major prep doubled as a GE. I still highly recommend LING 115 to everybody even though you aren’t forced to pick something from that category anymore; it was a great class.

@whostolemycookie It’s certainly possible that some of your major prep courses will double as GEs. For my major, some of the courses I had to take were LING 210, LING 285, and LING 385. All of these courses doubled as various GEs.

@Becausethety Do you mean like Marshall faculty? That’s pretty interesting. As far as I know, the faculty from individual schools don’t really get too involved in the undergrad process; that’s strictly for graduate/PhD applicants. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Probably doesn’t mean anything.

Just finished my semester and I expected 4 A’s and 1 W but now with my last final being finished I’m extremely worried because one class might be a B+ or so.

What exactly happens when you were planning on completing 30 credits but then had to drop? For context, I dropped kinda late (April 1st) because our semester starts late (still counted as a W).

It was due to circumstances regarding transportation, the class was super early in the morning and I no longer had a way to get there that early. I sent a letter providing an update a few days later. Any ideas? Not sure if it makes any difference but the class wasn’t a GE and wasn’t related to any of the majors I applied for. I have 6/8 GE’s completed.

Any recommendations for a GE-D or a GE-E course at USC?

@Halofax were you already accepted?

The Viterbi decisions will probably come on May 31st. That is the worst case! That is what says in their official link for transfers.

Anyone from Marshall still waiting to hear back …? :frowning:

@taki123 me i haven’t heard anything either ;(

Does anyone know if USC transfer merit scholarships were already sent out?

@CADREAMIN @zettasyntax LinkedIn showed me people who work at Troy Labs (related to USC), USC Marshall, some USC Film Production club and USC Levanthal Accounting were searching me up on LinkedIn. I applied for Business Admin not accounting. Overall said I was searched up by name by 7-9 people from these various places affiliated by USC on private mode last week. So I could only see where they work not who they were. Is it just students looking me up (if so how did they get my info) or do you think this could be a good sign for admissions? I’m a Sophomore transfer and didn’t hear anything back yet (did not get sgr).

@poolsideconvo78 Nope, I’ve been siting on an SGR since April 12th, which I got after I notified them of the W.

@LetsGoDodgers Merit scholarship results (or whatever you wanna call them) come out during the beginning of June.

Also, nice username. ?

Still no SGR no nothing, but I uploaded my spring grades at the end of April.

Hope that I can hear by next week.

@Becausethety I mean, it’s possible. I remember when I applied to UCSD, a bunch of their Instagram account followed my private account. I got rejected from there so who knows what that means. I had the TrojanVision Instagram account follow me recently as well. It’s really interesting that our generation is now looking at social me

I’m hoping all of you lovely people get good news next week. <3

@mase31 If I get accepted, I really hope next week’s wave of acceptance won’t be all for Spring.

@sagaciousforever I doubt that all will be for Spring. I was seriously going to call them and ask for some answers if I didn’t find out last week. My best guess is that there still will be a number of fall acceptances to go out. They skipped the entire month of April. :confused:

@FemmeFilmFatale How do they get our information that we applied? Regardless of how, why is the admissions team sharing this info to just reject (if we do end up getting rejected). Also, I am sorry to hear about UCSD, hopefully USC comes clutch for the both of us and we see each other next year! :slight_smile:
