2019-2020 USC Transfer

@sagaciousforever I think spring admissions were mainly given to SGR students so I think you’ll be fine. (Obviously some can still get fall too)

@Becausethety I don’t think it’s super hard to find the accounts. Especially on LinkedIn. As for mine, I go by my full name for creative reasons so it could have been that? I also put the accounts of where I work in my bio so that probably helped too, lol. I look at it as a good thing. I had to submit a film for SCA. I really hope they took the time to look at the rest of my films and YouTube channel where I posted it. The more they see of you the better. The thing about the USC application compared to allllll the other applications that I did (both UC’s and other privates) is that they really get a sense of who you are. The questions are specifically tailored and ask for in-depth answers. If part of their process includes a social media stalking session, then I’m all for it, lol.

And thanks! Hope it works out for you too!

Also, to everyone, don’t forget to clean up your social media’s, need-be. When my sister went to her college orientation at a different school, that’s the first thing they “taught” the students how to do.

@FemmeFilmFatale I’d have to agree with you. It could be a good sign. But who knows? Social media stalking session hahaha

@mase31 If employers do it, I bet schools do as well, haha.

@FemmeFilmFatale Haha, that’s true. Dude, low key USC for some reason takes way too long for all levels of admissions. Hopefully this is a good sign, and it means they’re truly picking apart each application to understand the applicant.

@FemmeFilmFatale Very true. @Becausethety This whole process makes me wonder what it’s like working in admissions.

I was accepted by Marshall for fall of 2019. With all the talking going on about spring admits, it made me wonder if I can postpone my acceptance to the spring of 2020 so I can save half a semesters tuition especially since I am going in as a sophomore transfer?

@youngtransfer Once you’re accepted, a “deferral request form” shows up on the portal. You won’t be saving half, you will be saving an entire semesters worth of tuition costs if you do decide to defer your admission until Spring 2020!

@mase31 I see. I saw the deferral request form, but I was not aware that I could do that. I thought that deferring admission was for family emergency or some other type of emergency only. I have not done all of my GE’s yet, so isn’t it better to finish most of GE’s at CC and then transfer to USC. Will they still grant deferral request for this reason?

http://ask.usc.edu/app/answers/detail/a_id/212/~/can-i-defer-my-graduate-admission-if-i-am-unable-to-attend-usc-for-the-term-to.

If u check this link you will know what I am talking about. USC deferrals do not guarantee admission for when I decide to get back into USC.

@youngtransfer That is graduate admission you are looking at

@youngtransfer Here is the undergraduate answer: http://ask.usc.edu/app/answers/detail/a_id/484/~/can-i-delay-or-defer-my-undergraduate-admission-to-a-future-term%3F

Ohhh! Thanks for clarifying.
Do you think my reason is valid? That I want to defer admission by one or two semesters so I can finish by GEs?

is anyone else having trouble logging into the housing application? when i type in my ID and click forgot pass, it says password could not be sent. i already have my net id and email address

@youngtransfer I know a couple people at my cc deferred admission to USC finish up GEs.

@mase31 so basically, fill out the deferral form right now and if I dont hear back by june 1st, then also put the deposit?

@youngtransfer I’m not sure how the deferral process works exactly. But I would start by filling out the deferral form. You should call the admissions office for clarification tomorrow!

How many SGR people are out there? If we were to be admitted is there a bigger chance we will be admitted for Spring? Seems like there is a correlation by looking at past threads

@poolsideconvo78 I don’t think there is a “bigger chance” for Spring if one were to get a SGR. However, https://admissionblog.usc.edu/5-questions-answered-about-spring-admission/ states that a small number of Spring Admits are moved to Fall. It also outlines how one can be considered for Fall even if they were accepted for Spring.

“Regardless of when you get to campus, fall or spring, you’ve been given the chance to be a Trojan. This is a promise that will extend beyond your time as a student, and into the rest of your life. Do something different with that first semester and know, when you arrive at USC, you’ll blend in just like everyone else.”

I think this is very important.

I received a SGR 3 weeks ago but the request disappeared from my application checklist last week. What could this mean? I never turned in my spring grades.
