My counselor is Alejandra Hernandez, I emailed her asking if we would get a decision by May 31 or if it’s gonna get delayed. There was an automatic email back and she said she would be back in her office by Thursday, May 23. Hopefully, we get some decisions on Friday…
@mase31 I also had the same problem. I sent an interview I did to my counselors email as additional information, but they did not even reply back. I followed up a couple days later, and they just said that they will make sure it is reviewed.

Anyone with a requirement in progress not hear anything yet? I’m finishing up both my writing and math and thought I’d get an SGR by now but I’m feeling that I’m gonna get rejected.
@USCprospector what do these tiers really mean tbh? My school was not big on greek life so theta was one of the few greek orgs we had. USC theta seems to have a very diff demographic than my original chapter which is why im hesitant to join…
@FlashyT I think it’s both. The way it was explained to me at Transfer Day for School of Cinematic Arts was that USC admissions looks at your application and then the school itself (in my case, SCA).
I’m not sure if they both look at it or if it goes through one and then the other. I’ve heard rumors of USC not wanting a certain student and SCA then pushing for that student.
@taki123 I have her too! What school do you go to?
@FemmeFilmFatale You seem really knowledgeable! Can you explain kind of what goes down from the time we submit the app?
@FemmeFilmFatale I’m confused. If USC does not want you, why transfer your app to the school you applied to? Wouldn’t it make more sense that you need to pass the USC table and get approved before your application goes to Marshall, Viterbi or SCA?
How does transfer orientation work? Is like 2 day orientation?
ah its 1 day orientation unlike freshman’s. Do you guys think transfer orientation will provide hang out time? Like meet new students and hanging out each other.
@blmcali99 i was looking at some videos on youtube and it seems that transfer students do have a chance to bond
@Becausethety The first question I can’t answer, lol. Reminder that this is my first time doing this too, haha.
Second question: I get your point. The part about both schools (USC and the other, whether that’s Marshall or Annenberg) looking at the application I was told at a Transfer Days. That’s why, for some schools, you had to send in a supplemental application. Now, I don’t want to freak anyone out if they didn’t have to send in a supplemental. I’m not sure what schools required one and what schools didn’t. In my case, USC would look at the Common App one while SCA would look at their supplemental one on a (possible?) third party service (in my case this was Slideroom.)
Like I said, I’m not sure which schools required a supplemental and which ones did not. I know for a fact that SCA required one and what they told me at Transfer Days. Not everyone’s application experience is the same at USC.
For my supplemental, I had to send in another LOR, write some essays, and send in a film. While we’re on that topic, did anyone else send in a supplemental for their major/school?
Same I spoke to him when he came to Santa Monica and he seemed annoyed with every question any student ask lol but he is retiring very soon
@FemmeFilmFatale You are completely spot on with all of that. I was told the same thing. Admissions looks first, then hands it to whoever is in charge of admissions for that specific school major (for example, in my case, USC admissions looks first, then hands it to Annenberg). I was also told that it will be handed to the second choice major school if the first choice major doesn’t “want you” (for example, if Annenberg says no, they will hand my app to Dornsife). It has to go through three groups of people, at least as what I was told. May or may not be accurate but that’s what they had said to me at the transfer session meeting I went to.
All I’m saying is, I back up what @FemmeFilmFatale is saying because I was told the same thing.
@blmcali99 I’m not sure how different it is from the summer orientation, but there was a chance to meet fellow transfers during winter orientation. We went off in groups to a classroom with an orientation advisor and just had a little chat to get acquainted. I remember everybody in my group was taking jabs at UCLA and getting laughs, but when I made a joke, it was radio silent, lol. They’ve probably re-tooled that way orientation works since my day, but I’m sure things like that are the same. You also have a lunch with other people in your major and your academic advisor, so that’s another chance to socialize
For real, somebody here needs to do work-study with the admissions office and come back and tell us everything, lol.
@zettasyntax I’ll definitely do work study for admissions if I get admitted just to help all the later years understand everything because, yeah this is stressful. lol
Definitely will be letting you and @CADREAMIN know if I do.
@okurrr Sounds great. I can’t wait to make friends in USC!
@zettasyntax Lunch time sounds great. I can’t wait to meet new people and eat lunch with them! I feel like I’m gonna like everyone in my orientation group.
Really hoping we hear something from Annenberg this week! Fingers crossed!!!
