??? emotions I have everyday waiting
@loveu3000usc glad I’m not the only one!!
@FlashyT Here are some of my stats:
College transferring from: Pepperdine (Marshall junior applicant)
Freshman year Fall: 13 units- 3.62
Freshman year Spring: 12 units-3.48
Sophomore year Fall: 18 units- 3.94
Sophomore year Spring: 16 units- 3.92
Cumulative: 3.765
Grades: 9 “A”, 4 “A-”, 2 “B+”, 2 “B”, 2 “WP”.
AP: Only one transferred to Pepperdine. Only three units I believe.
Withdrawals: 2 WP (W with passing). I dropped two courses because I was afraid of getting a “B” or “B-”. I dropped those two classes before the Final so it passed the regular “W” deadline. People might think that I am crazy of dropping a class because of the risk of getting a “B” or “B-” but at that time I wanted to keep my GPA as high as possible for the purpose of transfer. This is why I have low units for my freshman year.
I did not explain this is Common Application. I retook them in my sophomore year and earned “A” for both.
Essays: Wrote about how the curriculum and the environment. Listed two specific classes that I want to take and the professors who I want to reach. Also wrote about diversity and different cultures other than my own.
Race: Asian American
Recommendation Letters: Two strong letters from my professors. I had great relationship with those two professors- attended office hours every week and wrote emails to them (to set up office hours and to ask questions) frequently.
SGR: No SGR. Uploaded my spring grades at the end of April.
So you still think that I have a great chance?
I don’t know why I wrote so long. Maybe it’s because of the anxiety that I am feeling now.
@wdr89 Congratulations! I’m trying to enter Viterbi as a CSE major. If you don’t mind me asking what are your stats?
@sagaciousforever you sound like a very strong applicant and I think you have a great chance of getting in.
I wouldn’t count on @FlashyT to chance you. To him, USC would be perfect without any diversity
@Rosekk Thank you! I really hope that I will make it even if it’s for Spring. I sacrificed a lot for transferring. If it’s not because of transferring, I would have not drop any class.
I know that “chance me” is pointless but I am just curious about @FlashyT 's input because he/she seems so confident.
@sagaciousforever as confident he/she maybe, no one really knows for sure except for the admissions committee.! I don’t think it should affect your chances too much. If it was 3 or more W’s consecutively, it would be more concerning. On the bright side, only two more days left until the rest of us find out!
@Rosekk It’s fine to say that I am an Asian male.
Also, my two "W"s are in my freshman year so hopefully that’s a little better.
I am trying to be as confident as possible in order to feel better since so many applicants have heard back but I am still waiting.
@sagaciousforever I feel like a lot of people are in the same boat. Based on what @GoodAfternoonSir said, decisions may not even be made yet, it might not mean rejection
Hello all, someone please reply to me because Ive only been ignored in this thread. i am a sophomore transfer who was SGR’d. Fall semester i got 1 B, but Spring Semester, i received 2 Bs while taking 24 units. will two B’s during my second semester consider me rejected? should i just withdraw?
@Rosekk Agree. There should be more acceptances tomorrow and I am guessing that Friday will be the rejection wave (but still some acceptances).
I posted my stats to release my anxiety since there has been so many waves of acceptances already and we are still waiting.
@whatsup1995 No 2 “B” is fine. I wouldn’t worry too much unless you get a “C” or “C+”. A “C” or “C+” might affect your chance.
Don’t withdraw and just hang in there. Good luck!
@sagaciousforever when is the deadline?? I literally just requested to have my Spring grades sent last night (as soon as they were up)
Also, what’s SGR…
SGR = spring grade request @amghot
@amghot The deadline is June 1st, but June 1st is this Saturday so USC won’t post anything to the portal on weekend. Therefore, just take the deadline as May 31st, which is this Friday.
An “SGR” is the acronym for “Spring Grade Request”. Did you get an SGR? If you get one, your portal would have shown that USC wants your spring grades.
If you get an SGR, expect to hear back in June or July.
@whatsup1995 I wouldn’t withdraw. You never know. What’s more important is working on major prep and getting GEs completed. Nobody can say for sure though. Some people get 4.0’s after getting an SGR and still get rejected. I myself got rejected one year while taking 21 units and receiving a B in my transferable math course. USC just receives too many qualified applicants. Completing major pre-reqs, taking care of the math + writing requirement, and knocking out GE’s all while staying as close to the transfer average of 3.7 makes you qualified as you’re going to get. The rest is up to USC and how things ultimately play out.
@woshua thankss
i was spring graded and they received my grades tuesday and I got in today!!
All the Viterbi applicants who haven’t heard anything, let’s face it, we’re most probably denied. It’s been a long a journey for me and it’s sad that I have to go to UCSD while I really wanted to get into Viterbi. I just wish they released the rejections earlier there is no point to torture us until the last minute…
I’m gonna sign off for now. I wish all of you guys the best in your endeavors, and don’t forget to fight on!
