did anyone else’s FAST disappear on the portal? It went away and the SGR stayed on my checklist
@fastestbigguy yes, that happened for me too
@barev1 Sorry to hear that. Is it just USC that they are against ? That is really difficult not having your family support your decisions. best of luck
@jazzy54333 Yes, until you pay a deposit, you wouldn’t be considered, but it doesn’t matter, spaces don’t open in the fall for transfers, at least they haven’t in many years. They would move regular freshman admits first and there are lots of those.
Did anyone receive notice regarding merit scholarships? (Besides the one poster from yesterday?)
Hey guys, when you applied for USC, did you submit unofficial or official CC transcript? My counselor said unofficial transcript was fine for review but then now they asked for official one.
All transcript I sent are official one.
For Spring Admits, I’ve been hearing negative things (glorified waitlist etc.):, what’s people’s take on spring admit?
@Needmoreec What do you mean? It is not a waitlist. You are guaranteed admission in the spring.
@aayt132 I think they mean how spring admits are often referred to as the “B-team” of USC students; that they weren’t good enough to get in for the fall. I see this on reddit quite a bit.
I honestly think it’s somewhat random. Granted, I was a spring admit myself, haha. But I don’t believe it’s all based on GPA. The average transfer GPA is around 3.7 or so. According to my transfer report, my transferable GPA was calculated to 3.952 and while not a 4.0, I wouldn’t have really hurt their statistics. Some people believe they defer transfers with lower GPAs to the spring as to not harm this statistic. That makes sense, but not only 4.0 students get fall admittance - plenty of lower GPAs get in for the fall as well. This leads me to believe there are other factors. Bad essay? Bad EC’s? People say EC’s don’t matter much for transfers, so I don’t think it could be that. Maybe it could depend on your admissions counselor? People say they play little to no role in your admission though, so it’s probably not that either. Although, nobody here works in admissions, so we can’t really make any claims about their role in our fate. Maybe it’s just random.
@zettasyntax I am just grateful to be accepted and able to attend USC even if I was a spring admit.
It’s very random for sure. There are so many people who got into Spring with 3.9 to 4.0 GPA. It’s just because they are not as favorable as the Fall admits. But “favorable” is very subjective here.
There is nothing to do with your essays and grades. Admitting you Fall or Spring depends on admission officer’s preferences, so a Fall admit is not necessarily academically better than a Spring admit. I am sure that there are many Spring admits who perform better than Fall admits once they take classes at USC.
Is it okay to take 1 English class as Pass/Fail for the GE requirement?
@Steamedz Sorry for late response! Yes, my SGR is on my portal with an X saying “awaiting”.
@citygirl5 That’s a good question. I’m not sure if that would work for the English requirement, since it’s technically a prerequisite for the school. Is it the lower or upper division level requirement? Or just a different English class for credit in another GE category? If nobody else is sure either, I’d give them a call or send an email. Make sure if you do call that you specify what level English class it is so they can give you the right answers. I’d say probably not and it needs to be a regular type class, but don’t hold me to that because I’m not quite sure.
I got accepted as junior for Marshall spring 2020. I already completed 60+ units at cc. Would I still be allowed to take classes during fall? I know the limit you can transfer is 64 units. I am worried this could push my graduation date further. Can anyone shed some light on my situation?
@vegastransfer I am having trouble logging into OASIS and I committed yesterday.
I know my USC ID (shown in upper right corner in FAST) but what is the password?
Will USC email me a password soon?
Hey All. My DD applied for internal transfer/double major trying for SCA film&prod. She is currently in SCA animation. She still hasn’t heard back? (She was pretty disappointed in her film submission… the stars weren’t aligned with her doing her shoot back here in NC …she had issues with actors sickness/availability during filming during winter break. It really was a time crunch though she had it all planned out for such a long time. She ended up submitting a different film She loves her original film idea she still wants to make it the way she envisions it just because. Oops sorry about the tangent there.) Anyway, she still hasn’t heard anything and it is past June 1st now. Anyone else have this happen? I posted this to the USC SCA 2019-2020 page as well but it isn’t as active. Anyway, anyone else still waiting for film&prod?
Hey all. When I submitted my transcript, my USC counselor said that unofficial copy would be fine for review and if I am admitted, they would need the official one. I also updated my grade with unofficial transcript on April. And on May 31, my counselor asked me to send her official transcript asap. Does it mean anything? I haven’t received the decision yet!
@transfrusc88 It’s a lower div English 1B, I’ve completed English 1A, But, still need to complete 1C
