2019-2020 USC Transfer

@daniiellesara If they’re going to mirror last year then there may be a possibility that some will hear next week.

@GotYa55 I hope so… I didn’t get an SGR so the longer that I don’t hear back the more worried I get

@ramblebrisket David Jones was my counselor. Another counselor informed me that David Jones is leaving USC, and that was over a month ago.

@asdfgh6789 i saw you asking about annenberg PR majors…i got in for PR for Fall 2019.

Has anyone else with an SGR not submit their spring grades yet? I have two professors who have yet to post them

Congratss. Do you mind if I ask what your stats or application was like. I was just trying to figure out where I went wrong. @Duvergay

I am so bummed out. I applied as a biology major. My GPA from my first semester was a 4.0. I took some pretty rigorous courses as well, including Biology, Chemistry, and Calculus. I received a SGR and my GPA was another 4.0. while taking another rigorous course load. I sent my grades the day I saw the request and soon after I got my letter of denial. I don’t understand how that makes any sense. I guess I will appeal my decision and see if anything happens. I am a rising sophomore.

@BTP5 oof, that really sucks :frowning: May I ask when you heard back that you were rejected?

@poolsideconvo78 ive heard about that. Did you just contact another counselor and basically made them your “main” counselor? or did they mention someone replacing his spot. thankss

Has anyone not received financial package yet?

Hi! Can I know your stats? is that I applied to International Relations as my 2nd major and I got SGR so I just want to know if our stats may look like. Thank you @

Did anyone here apply to International Relations & got accepted? if you did can I know your stats?

@mechE99 I haven’t received my financial aid package
@dcz1998 I got accepted for International Relations, what stats did you want

Does USC assign housing based off the date the student submitted the housing application? Somebody on the admitted student page on FB said they got assigned housing to Troy and they applied May 5th. I applied May 4th… I am wondering if it is because I requested gender neutral housing that I haven’t heard anything?

Most likely that is the reason. Did you answer the additional questions for GN housing on the application? It has to be approved differently, so there is another step than other housing where they just stick you in any spot that opens up.

@mechE99 Same, still waiting for financial aid package

@CADREAMIN I did answer the GN housing questions on the application. I noticed that some people were being assigned to GN housing on Friday, so I am hoping to hear something back this coming week. If not, I will likely call them and tell them to just place me in general housing. I am more concerned with just getting housing at all than I am about getting assigned something gender neutral.

@BTP5 Oh my goodness WHAT? I thought if you got an SGR and get a 4.0 that means you will get in. Why would they waste your time with an SGR if even a 4.0 means you wouldn’t get in? I am so confused by the logic here. I am sorry dude that just really sucks. I got an SGR and reported a 4.0. They still haven’t gotten back to me yet…

It was posted here several times, there are plenty of 4.0s with SGRs that don’t get in. This is not a stat driven school - the essays mean just as much, sometimes more. Saying you want to go and having a 4.0 isn’t the play for USC. They may not have even read the application when the SGR is sent, it just buys them time. They get the SGR, read the app, and think, “Nah, this kid isn’t the right fit or they didn’t sell me enough on why USC.”

@CADREAMIN Thanks! I really appreciate the help! I called last week and I got the direct phone number to my counselor who looked at my application. I’m going to call tomorrow and let y’all know what happens! Yeah, it really does seem like an error on their part but at the back of my mind I did not really try on the essays though I meet (and exceeded) their ttp requirements. Overall, if they tell me I was actually rejected I don’t care. I’m really happy at UCR and I’ve been so involved this past year that I don’t want to leave.
