2019-2020 USC Transfer

@CADREAMIN do you know why people get Spring? I truly have no idea why I got Spring rather than Fall…

@whereto2022 were you accepted today?

@CADREAMIN You have a point but it’s not like rentals are going to be available until USC feels like giving us a decision. I’m certainly not going to sign a rental agreement before getting accepted.

@swiftceo Totally, of course not. I was just implying that folks should be shopping around (browsing internet for options) and to not count on USC housing because even if one gets USC housing at this point, it may not be great since applicant has no control over where they are put. And most transfers are older and may want more freedom than on campus housing allows.

@milkteaman , That happened to me as well.

I sent my unofficial transcripts for my spring grade request to my counselor, and a few days later, the “spring grade request” in the application checklist disappeared. No green check mark. It just vanished.
Now it’s back to:
Received - Common Application - (Date)
Received - High School Transcript - (Date)

Received - College Transcript for ****** COLLEGE - (Date didn't change)

However, I see my fast portal again.

@whereto2022 USC doesn’t have enough space to accept everyone in the fall which is why they accept some people for the spring.

I sent in my official transcript about three weeks ago and there is still an X next to my SGR request on the portal. However, I called them a week ago and they told me they received it. Should I call again to ask why there’s still an X on my portal or just leave it alone since they already confirmed that they got my transcript?

I sent my spring grades last week, and my counselor confirmed he received them the same day. I called SC and they said all letters should be out by July 15th at the latest for anyone who’s still waiting like me :confused: Some background info: I’m applying to transfer to SCA’s CAMS as an incoming sophomore with 32 transferable units completed at a CC

@GotYa55 no i was accepted on May 31, but just posted bout it now

@whereto2022 - sometimes it is due to space - certain majors/schools don’t have room and spring will make room (study abroad, graduating, leaving for whatever reason, etc). Or an applicant may have ok grades/scores but they can see issues from the app - like a lack of maturity or needy relationship with counselor, etc., - and they get a feeling the student isn’t ready and want to see them mature more before they get there. Those few extra months can make a difference. If you ask students, they will tell you there is definite division/perception issues between regular 4 year admits and transfers, that is even bigger with spring admits. As a private university, it is not a school that was set up for transfers like the UCs/state schools, it was forced on people by Nikias mostly, and not everyone is a fan of the large transfer population there. Just how it is, always will be.

Has anyone who was admitted been able to access the Facebook group ? I still haven’t been let in lol

I have a question regarding house. I already SIR’d to USC and one of the questions asked about housing. Instead of putting the option that I wanted to apply for housing, I stated that I would look for housing elsewhere. Now, I changed my mind and would want to apply for housing just to see what room I could get. Should I just apply for housing anyways even though I didn’t put it down on the SIR? What should I do?

@MoonKnight you could try and submit an application for on campus housing, but one poster on this forum has already said that there is a waitlist for on campus housing. At this point, many students are signing leases for off campus housing.

I’m trying to find housing for the spring. Do you know if the waitlist is just for the fall or both semesters?

Hey guys, is there anyone else who is doing TTP and hasn’t gotten a acceptance yet?

@MoonKnight You’re a spring admit right? Doesn’t the spring application open July 1st? If that’s the case, the current waitlist should be for fall admits. When I applied for housing, I was notified in December that I received a room, but I wasn’t really happy with it, so I chose to commute instead since I was local to USC.

@whereto2022 It’s really hard to say since none of us work in admissions. It could literally be anything. I thought it would be a space issue, but when I chatted with the linguistics advisor (the linguistics major is very small with about 70 students, so you’d imagine they would always have room for new students), he said it would make no difference if I switched over to linguistics; I’d still be a spring admit. It could be random. I would say it could be the fact that I never really went to high school (just one semester of 9th grade) and received my GED, but another GED applicant got in for the fall semester this year. I honestly think it’s random until somebody here does work-study in the admissions office and gives us the inside scoop, haha.

@MoonKnight yes the waitlist that I wrote about is for Fall 2019. My apologies, as I thought you were looking for Fall housing. It’s also my understanding that housing applications for Spring begin on July 1.

@kachowy123 yea I’m still waiting

Hi,
This is a question for those who have also sent in your SGRs. Last week, USC finally indicated on my admissions portal that they had received my spring grades. I’m not sure when this happened, but my SGR requested is no longer there. Did this happen to you guys as well? Have you guys gotten a decision after this happened?

@fuhnancy It just means that they received it.
