2020-2021 USC Transfer

@seabee91 haha, that’s true and sure bro! I think I barely mentioned my military service in mine :confused:

Has anyone heard back with psych dornsife?

@seabee91 CONGRATS!!!

Hmmm yeah, if your dad and mom went you already in. That would be like a slap on the face if both your parent’s alumni and you don’t get in.

@anervouswreck Yes hun, Annenberg is really hard to get into, after SCA, Annenberg is the hardest to get into and nobody can argue with me about that, is the #1 school of communications in the WORLD, % keep decreasing. Last year both of my major choices were at Annenberg and got rejected, from hundreds from my college only one girl got in for PR. When I say hundreds mean as a class, not hundreds that applied to Annenberg, I don’t know how many applied.

Which major you choose?

how do we submit SGR officially ? is it only by mail?

@Nazarzzzz I’m a Psych major for Dornslife, got a SGR on april 22nd. Haven’t heard anyone else in psych getting a SGR so I’m worried I messed up somewhere

@“Prash Patil” I applied to transfer to Viterbi with a 4.0 GPA. After this semester, I’ll have 65 units. I probably got the SGR because I had taken relatively few units in two of my semesters. As long as it’s not a flat-out rejection I’ll take it!

@sleeplessincali I’m also a psych major for Dornslife and I got an SGR on May 9th. Hopefully I have good spring grades, they are due tomorrow so I’ll find out then.

Have any non TTPs gotten an SGR?

@Doodlesack Actually, Viterbi is harder, but both are difficult nonetheless. :slight_smile:

@grapesoda2
You can upload them into your portal. In the program it says “choose file” and it should bring a dropdown menu and SGR will be an option.

@desertsolitaire a good number have

@Doodlesack I applied to general Communications and PR as my two options for USC. I’m really starting to doubt my chances.

@sleeplessincali Im a psych major for dornsife too that got sgr! I am a rising junior though…I got mine on April 15 I think. I am super nervous ugh! :frowning:

but the ones you upload yourself aren’t official right?

My first choice major was PR in Annenberg, and my second was Global Studies in Dornsife. I didn’t know that about the Annenberg acceptance rate until today but whatever. I’m still pretty confident in my chances because I had a PR internship for the summer as a freshman (which got canceled due to COVID) but well see

It sounds like the California State University system is moving entirely online for the fall semester and the stay-at-home order is getting extended in L.A. Do you guys think there’s any possibility that USC will still have in-person classes in the fall? It’s really going to suck if we get in and our first semester gets cancelled.

@Nazarzzzz im a psych major in dornsife and i havent heard anything either. i know a few people in this thread are psych majors too and have gotten SGRs, but it may depend on whether youre applying as a sohpomore or junior transfer. there are different sets of requirements in terms of courses you have to complete and they might want to see those grades before they make a decision. im a sophomore transfer so i have fewer requirements than a junior transfer, which is why im not shocked that i havent gotten a SGR. either way, we still have a bit of time for USC to let us know. may 31 is a long ways away, which is both really annoying and reassuring. good luck!! :slight_smile:

@thatwouldsuck i think there’s definitely a chance USC goes online for the fall, but i think they’re going to avoid it at all costs in an attempt to not lose as much money. if anything, i think they’ll allow some students back to campus and strictly enforce physical distancing rules. housing and dining fees bring in a ton of money to the university, and i don’t think they want to go another semester without all of that profit. i also know tons of people who currently attend private schools that aren’t going to be able to return in the fall because their parents got laid off or they got laid off themselves and now can’t afford to continue their education at such expensive schools. in addition, the cal st.'s are public schools and usc is private. the cal st.'s get funding from the state of california while usc doesn’t, so the cal st.'s have more financial security in doing another semester online. usc could end up in serious financial trouble if they do another semester entirely online. personally, i think private schools like usc are going to do a hybrid semester with only a certain number of students back on campus, but i could be very wrong.
