@ejordan02 Yeah exactly because in my case I have an upward trend in my grades, I am taking classes specific to my major, and I’m taking an English course too they probably want to see what is up with ALL of those lol
I came on this morning to over 100 new posts. I totally thought people had been accepted. Hopefully today is the day!
@NavyGuy2019 That happens to me everyday at 5pm lol. Some SGRs came out yesterday at 5PM but hopefully we get at least one big wave of acceptances either today or friday.
@anervouswreck hey there, where did you get your information on the acceptance rates per school? I have been searching for those statistics for a while, but I can’t find anything. The only thing that I found is this: https://admission.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/Transfer-Profile-18_19.pdf
If you look at the section with the percent breakdown (per college), you will see that it is titled “Academic Distribution”. I think that I see the 8% that you referenced, but I think that number corresponds to the percent of accepted students out of all accepted students who entered the Annenberg School for Comm. & Journalism. If you add up the percentages, you get roughly 100%.
In addition, when I asked my admission counselor about the transfer acceptance rate breakdown per major (though not college), he said: “We don’t break down specific acceptance rates for majors. Transfers are accepted at about 24% across the board.”
I think obviously all privates don’t want to go online, but I don’t think they will have a choice. LA went on lockdown for another three months and in my opinion, I don’t think the state will be opened up by then. It all sucks and I hope usc can let us know of that decision before the commit date.
A new wave of acceptances/rejections are expected to come out this Friday. Nervous!
Not a surprise for CSU’s to go online where many of the CSU campuses have a high percentage of commuter and non-traditional students. In a public system what applies to one applies to all. It’s a shame cause some campuses could open one would think. There are almost 500k students in the CSU system - wowza.
How do you know this?
@nyeoominheelys It’s based on last year. Last year acceptances came out on Fridays @ 5PMish
@ejordan02 I’m a psych major and a rising sophomore and I got an SGR, is that a good or a bad thing?
Do you think it would look good or bad to send a LOR along with the SGR this late in the process ?
@millerman63 If you received an SGR go ahead! LORs never hurt!
@nyeoominheelys It is based on last year. You should stop by this forum around 5 pm PST on Friday. Last week we were hanging out counting down the time. Honestly pretty fun. The windows seem to be from 5 pm to 6:30 pm PST.
Do all sophomores get SGRs tho. Like can an incoming sophomore get accepted without an SGR?
yes. I was accepted spring 2018 as a bio major. I only had 30 units of transferrable classes, all GE’s. I was also on TTP
@LemonBoy24 i’d take it as a good thing! usc may just want to see your growth from the fall semester, or you may be taking a gen ed requirement that they need to make sure you pass. typically, most gen eds don’t need to be completed until the end of your sophomore year, but they may just want to see your grade in it now. i think SGRs are a good thing in any situation; it gives you a chance to show your improvement from the fall, and show how you handled this crazy online semester. good luck!!
I noticed a lot of people talking about the “overadmit” of freshman this cycle, so I wanted to collect the data of past admissions.
applying Fall 2015: 9181 admit, 32.1% yield
applying Fall 2016: 9022 admit, 34% yield
applying Fall 2017: 9042 admit, 37.1% yield
applying Fall 2018: 8339 admit, 40.8% yield
applying Fall 2019: 7558 admit, 41.9% yield
And there in lies the math problem, they admitted 9500, if they get 40% yield that is 3800 students, 700-ish bigger than their typical class size. To hit the 3150-ish enrollment target they need to hit a yield of 33%. I think it was the class of 2022 was over-enrolled by just a 300-ish then transfers added on and it is amazing the negative impact it had on campus. So many complaints. They don’t want to do that again. We’ll see what the yield is this year, very curious about that!
Have someone been admitted to dornsife (pol sci)???
If someone were to be accepted or rejected, would they tell you on the spot or wait till the end?
