2020-2021 USC Transfer

Yo quick questions, I’m planning on transferring next year. I’m hoping to transfer in as a sophomore into Marshall as a Business administration major and i got a few questions. 1. does taking honors classes make a huge difference. 2. How much better is it to take more then 30 units?

@Bellevue34 Last year I had a letter of rec from an ACADEMY AWARD nominee director I worked with and still got rejected, I read other two that did internships at Netflix and Ellen DeGeneres at Warner Bros also got rejected. What you think puts you a foot in the door actually doesn’t, who knows how they decide, I know they pay more attention to your legacy alumni PARENTS, not your Granpa or grandma, but if you grandpa actively teaches at SC you are already in, it’s weird you haven’t get your acceptance letter yet, because the military/vets already did, they seek diversity so they see marines apps etc and is an instant yes which is cool because they give you an early decision as they should do to legacy applicants

Marshall Junior Year Applicant, have not heard anything yet

@Doodlesack bro, I’m a Navy vet and I haven’t received any acceptance yet. I just got an interview and an email from the asst director of the SCA admin dept requesting to see my coursework and grades this semester.

Hey guys, I just got a SGR and I P/F 3/4 of my classes; however, since I P/F 3 classes I did not study for them. I currently have 2 A’s 1B and 1 unknown. Any advice on what I should do? I’m transferring from a top 30 uni.

@hermit1214 bruh, read what you just got you have an open channel already and communicating with them to make a decssion, Navy vet? you ALREADY in son.

@Doodlesack what’s the name of what on Reddit? Sorry, I don’t understand your question.

@WCWSM52 you said something about someone posting an acceptance on credit, I’m asking you the name of the sub on credit, i know it might me usc but just asking

@Doodlesack oh…on Friday (appeals decision day), there were comments on the CC thread that some hopeful appeal candidates posted on Reddit that their appeals were accepted. Also - these were incoming freshmen appeals, not transfer applicants. I don’t know the Reddit thread for that though. Sorry.

I’m not really sure how rolling admissions works as I am applying to college for the first time as a transfer. I know for certain that my application was read on the second week of April as I was emailed by the admissions director for my region and they mentioned they had gotten to my common app in it. Should I be worried that I haven’t gotten any decision yet because I’ve been assuming the worst?

@Doodlesack I’m not sure if it’s really an open channel of communication since I haven’t received a peek for like close to 3 weeks now. I hope I got in, but I browsed through last year’s thread and found that there was a Navy vet that applied for production but got rejected.

@hosc21 when did you get ur SGR? Im from nyu as well

I just got it approximately 30 minutes ago.

@Doodlesack im a Marine Corps vet and haven’t heard anything back yet either. I wouldn’t say that military vets hear back first with an automatic acceptance. Not true. I’ve only heard of one vet being accepted so far and he sounded really qualified. I believe it was @seabee91

Emailed one of the Viterbi officers and they told me they’re hoping to enroll the same number of transfers as every other years, 150 transfers making up 20% of the entering class. The officer also told me to hang in there, my decision will be out whenever I get my spring grades in. Sounds reassuring, hoping for the best! I prob won’t be checking this sub as much, it has been stressing me out lately.

Hope this helps someone, I also asked about circumstances in which they accept for undecided dornsife, the officer said If for some reason you are not admitted to your first or second choice major, you will be considered for undecided at the university. I wouldn’t say it’s very rare. It’s just students are usually admitted to one of their choice majors, or they aren’t admitted. So it is a small handful of students that are admitted Undecided each year.

@OldSpiceFiji 1. Honor classes don’t make as big a difference for USC then for UCs.
2. Taking more than 30 credits only means they won’t use your hs transcript/ACT/SAT as reference when making a decision. What you should focus on is taking the right classes for your major. Quality over quantity. Also, usc would like to see you complete a good amount of gen eds before attending.

@hosc21 did you get an email notification to check? Or did it pop up on the portal?

i got a email

Congrats! What major? @hosc21

haha i didn’t get accepted, i just received an SGR
