I don’t meant to sound selfish, but I’m wondering if the decisions will be released at later than usual date. I heard UCI already cancelled their commencement ceremony in June.
@seabee91 I was curious about the same thing. I’m assuming they can preview applications from home, though, so maybe it will stay the same. I’m currently at ND and they said that their decisions will be coming out on the usual dates for regular decision and transfer applicants.
Notifications will be on time, but they are always later in general for USC. A batch goes out first and second week of April, then these other batches just spit out randomly with one can only hope by June 1st, but there are always a good amount well into June and some July! It’s brutal.
@CADREAMIN do the majority of rising sophomores receive a grade request before admission?
People say that but it’s not really true, it really depends on the individual. If you were this all-star in high school, with great gpa/test scores and post great grades in December, they may have all the info they need and make the decision. Often true for TTP applicants (Trojan Transfer Plan). But they may ask just to be sure you completed a requirement for a major with a good grade and that you didn’t drop, etc. It depends basically.
@CADREAMIN do you know if any of the schools admit TTP students earlier than others? Specifically wondering if Annenberg tends to admit their transfers earlier or later or does it not make a difference?
@sprinttotheend love the username! Not really, when you are TTP in any school, you certainly have a better chance of finding out earlier. While there are certainly pattens - like Viterbi tends to post later in the regular transfer cycle, a Viterbi TTP applicant may hear in the first wave of admissions that spans across many of the schools if not all. I hate to set expectations too early, but the “easy” TTP applicants can be admitted as early as within a week of the freshman admit cycle. Easy applicant being strong hs record, 4.0 college gpa first semester kind of TTPer - the ones in the 99 percentile that likely deferred with TTP because they just didn’t have enough room in the major they wanted.
In the last few years the earliest have been March 30 to that first week in April. But then there are always these dreadful situations where even a TTP hears in late May or even into June. I assume there is usually something they are still verifying - class selection/grades to post. Because otherwise TTP should be pretty much a done deal. But of course nothing is comforting except that package in hand, which may be a portal update this year. tbd. Good luck - hope you are in the early batch!
Thank you! Sit and wait.
Has anybody received an SGR?
Seems like admission decisions will only be through our portals this cycle.
"Update on Admission Decision Release
While we remain excited to welcome the newest members of the Trojan Family, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has prompted us to notify applicants of their admission decisions only online.
We will not be sending decisions via mail."
Does USC do rolling or they announce to everyone at the same time?
Rolling and rolling and rolling for what seems like forever…you’ll see. Hang in there!
Damn, kinda upset about this lol, i wanted that sexy letter
Yeah, its a bit of a bummer…
Wait, so is that mean we won’t even got the package if we are admitted!? That’s is really disappointed (lol, don’t even know if I’ll get in), but given the current situation the admission process is already been tough enough for them
I’m hoping/thinking they give it out at orientation as a keepsake. It’s such a tradition! We still have all of ours. And this way they save the mailing expense. I know the reg decision packets were made, just not put together…so we’ll see what happens…
I hope we can request for it somehow lol. Will orientation even happen with the covid going on? I have a feeling that fall is when the second wave is going to come, if it does happen
Too soon to tell.
So today my university announced the option of taking classes pass/fail after the shift online. I am a sophomore, so I have 3 semesters of grades already. In the event of an SGR, how would a “pass” reflect in an admissions decision as opposed to a B- for example? Obviously both are passing, but I’m wondering about how it would look in comparison to As for other classes. Not talking about a prereq, by the way.
@pmemfy Well, since USC is granting every current student the same option for every class taken this semester… even allowing a P/F course to count for all requirements, whether GE or major or minor, I cannot see how USC could hold it against you if you elected to take the same option(s) elsewhere. The key advantage or disadvantage, depending, is that it freezes your current cumulative GPA. But holding it constant is clearly better than it going down.
