@WhiteDragonKorea omg that is the sweetest thing ever said. Thank you so kindly! And welcome to the Trojan Family!
I had several kids accepted to USC and have had a student or two there consistently going on 10 years now, yikes! Their majors include pretty much all the big schools within USC (kids are so different!) - so been there done that. I am on campus quite a bit (athletics and visiting) and know lots of people that help/work there. I just like to see potential future Trojans get the most accurate info they can and not be over-stressed or mis-informed. There is enough of that on the internet and in the college process!
@zettasyntax, @WWWard and many other loyal posters to the USC forum try to make it a safe space with the most accurate info we know. It really is a supportive university, so we practice what they teach, by supporting future Trojans. We are not always perfect, but sharing the experience we have had over many years, and the information we get, our only intention is to be helpful on this part of the college journey.
@zettasyntax Congrats on your accomplishment! Do you mind sharing which grad school you are at now?
CSCI 103 is certainly a difficult class and I have heard from my CS suitemate that CSCI 104 is the hardest for getting good grades.
Yep, I like the ITP minor so far and it is a popular minor for Marshall students. The minor focuses on data analytics so I will take ITP 115 (Intro to Python) and ITP 249 (Data Analytics+SQL) and some upper div minor classes.
As for my situation, I will wait to hear from @CADREAMIN but I will make my decision wisely. I have until 5/27 to decide anyways.
Are there any resources for students transferring from a 4-year to another 4-year in terms of what we’re specifically supposed to do? Like do I have to let my current school know that I’m transferring or is there some kind of process I have to go through to withdraw/transfer credits? Now that the initial excitement has died down a little I’m…overwhelmed a bit… there’s so much to think about…
This is the hardest time for some of you - seeing others get in and still waiting - ugh, it’s tough. They aren’t done and until you see that acceptance or denial, ya just have to shake it off and continue on for awhile longer.
For those still waiting, go play a video game or find some other mindless thing to do that will keep you busy and distracted. Sometimes that is the best thing to do when it’s a stressful time!
@yinhan I transferred from a 4-year (Pepperdine) and you will need to inform your school’s OneStop (the department that helps students with transcript and classes) that you are leaving the university as soon as you confirm that you will no longer return. Just send an email to them so that they could remove you from the system starting next semester. You might need to email housing too.
As for the transfer credits, USC will do that for you so just stay tuned and wait for your STARS Report and Transfer Credit Report. They are usually available for you to view 4-6 weeks after your acceptance.
@CADREAMIN that’s true it really is difficult. i’m happy for everyone, but reality is sinking in that this was a pretty huge wave considering so many people - just on this forum alone were accepted. I’m trying to take my mind off of it, but I think several of us that haven’t gotten in have an ominous feeling.
@mill213 I think it is coming back to me - the later you are admitted the longer TCR can take and they are certainly slow for spring admits (we didn’t see any spring admits today, did we)?
If you are on a time crunch, go ahead and call the registrar’s office or transfer office - there is likely a number on web. It will take some hold time, but you could ask if they have an idea of a timeline for this batch. (They can’t take your acceptance away, ha and are there to help! Best case is 2 weeks, but it may be more like others have said. You can tell them it is helpful to your decision and perhaps they can help you out there.
Although there is one crabby funky lady in that office, you will know if you get her, ha. Good luck!
Oh and does your school have an articulation agreement at USC? Did you look at that when you applied? Those can be totally accurate if your school has one.
@CADREAMIN do you think SCA production would still be releasing acceptances? Or this is pretty much it? I’ve seen like 5-6 people get accepted for SCA production today.
@sagaciousforever I’m at UW now. Funnily enough, another Trojan is in the same program I’m in, so UW really is one of the top choices for my field. This other Trojan is wayyy smarter than me, haha, so I really am happy that I was able to get in. I got the exact same grade in CSCI 104, so I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t let things get worse. It wasn’t until my final semester or so that I finally started to get B’s/A’s (well A-) in some Viterbi classes.
Interestingly enough, I recall a rather large number of Marshall students in my LING 385 class, which was taught in Python as well. I guess Python might appeal to Marshall students and they wanted a little preview of what it’s like. Good luck again. I need to get an internship by next summer to complete my degree requirements. I can’t see myself going down the thesis route.
@hermit1214 This wave has hit, but the splashes (more acceptances) usually keep hitting right up until they send out the rejections. I can’t be sure, but it appears those will come this weekend. If not, that is more time for acceptances! Except, frankly, it is good to know one way or another at this point I think.
@CADREAMIN Thank you for saying that. It is a really stressful time given the uncertainty with almost everything in life. Not to mention I am waiting on several admission decisions while studying for finals. I am hoping for the best and thank you for your positivity
d @Sammiezee would you mind telling me what time they got the update and if they got an email first? Congrats to them btw! I’m still waiting to hear back from Roski
@mapofthesoul Yes, I joined two clubs. One recreational sports club and one business professional club. I joined them mainly because I wanted to find friends!
As for the best thing at SC, I would say it’s the friends that I have made and the memories (some sweet some disappointing) that I have created. Most people that I met are intellectual, driven, and kind, and you have so many different choices when choosing who you want to befriend with!
The college experience worth nothing without the people and that is probably why the majority of students hated to attend Zoom classes during COVID-19.
