2020-2021 USC Transfer

Does anyone know how SGRs are evaluated once they submit their grades? Do they look at your whole app again with the new grades in mind? Or is it sort of along the lines that they kind of have an idea of what they’re going to do with you but need a bit more info?

Hi guys!
I got in for Biochem, Pre-med for spring 2021! Btw guys, my COVID box and withdrawl box are still there
Congrats to everyone that got in!

@sleeplessincali not too sure how they will evaluate the SGR, but I would assume they would re look at the application to get a refresher

ACCEPTED FOR SPRING 2021 ! SO BLESSED AND GRATEFUL! GOD IS GOOD!

Year - Junior Applicant !
Major - Political Science / Dornsife
GPA - 3.62 (upward trend)
Solid Extracurriculars
Essays were my defining part of the app.

Congratulations to the rest of the accepted class! We got a lot to look forward to !!!

i wasn’t so lucky today, but congrats to everyone that was!! you should be so proud… usc is such an amazing school! wishing you all good health and an awesome fall semester, whatever that may look like

I don’t know if this is normal but I’m looking at the housing application right now and for some reason, 90% of the housing options are the freshman dorms and the only undergraduate housing option is Cale and Irani residential college. Is this normal @CADREAMIN @zettasyntax or anyone else who happens to be filing it right now.

@CADREAMIN Hey! I am completely crushed by my rejection today. I really did not see it coming. Do you have any tips in terms of appeals?
Furthermore, do you know the rate of acceptance and the timeline of when we might here back for appeals?
Thank you so much!

Is there an official acceptance group on fb or something?? Can somebody dm me pls? Thank you:)

Also, when do credit evaluations usually come out?

@bean01262020 Did you select freshman on the question that said what grade you will be entering when coming to USC? I believe that’s how you would get that issue.

I put Sophomore (Fall 2020 will start my second year) and I see all undergrad apartment options.

I’m not seeing a way t o appeal since it wants an ID I don’t have.

@usctransfersquad im pretty sure i selected junior. I cant seem to check for some reason. Maybe its because im a junior?

accepted for spring! International relations major, upward trending GPA of 3.6

Essays were definitely my strongest component.

Did Viterbi send out any rejection yet?

Anyone with a SGR that hasn’t submitted grades yet notice their covid box disappear but their withdraw button still there?

I’m assuming they removed the covid box for everyone that hasn’t submitted SGR cus it’s old news. Also, I can’t imagine having to wait until July just to be rejected (However still possible).

Sorry to all those that didn’t get in. Surprised by a few of you for sure. Something else is just meant to be. You wanted to be on this road, but just have to find great stuff along another path. This process is hard and can be very painful. Be sad and angry for a day or some period of time, then move on, don’t let it drag you down too long. Where you go to school doesn’t define you, only you define you wherever you go.

Ok enough of the pollyanna - just sorry that you super nice people are dealing with pain and disappointment. This process is brutal for sure, always has been.

@grapesoda2 I think every applicant gets an ID? I found mine in the FAST portal

@UscTransfer2433 My covid box disappeared but the withdraw button is still there. I did not receive a decision or SGR today. But I did send in my winter term grades which may have something to do with why I have not heard back yet.

@yjliu when you’re accepted your portal should update with a link to the fb group. as for credit evaluations, i heard from others on here that you may get those a 3-4 weeks after receiving your acceptance. you can view it through oasis, which you can gain access to after obtaining your netID (activate at my.usc.edu using your USC ID and date of birth) however I think you need to wait a few days for your decision to process before you can activate the netID successfully. your netID is NOT the ID you see in the FAST portal, that’s just your USC ID

I don’t think you will be able to use the appeal box, I believe it is an error that it is there at all. Let us know if that changes, but I think that is just there from regular admissions and just disabled.

Per USC:
“USC does not have a formal appeal process for transfer applicants. If you wish to appeal our decision, please email your Admission Counselor a statement as to why you believe your application should be reconsidered.”

I get wanting to do everything you can, and if you want to try to appeal, go for it. But it is likely just dragging out the inevitable. If you don’t have anything new and stunning that wasn’t on your application, you are wasting your time and admissions time. Most years, zero - yes zero - transfer appeals are granted. Then there was one year where a couple/few were granted and it became legend and turned into the perception that many were granted. If you won the Nobel Peace Prize in March (ok maybe exaggeration, but you get the idea) or something extraordinary since you submitted your app, give it a go. But if your gpa went from 3.6 to 3.7 - that would not be significant. They are turning away 4.0 students, so an adjustment in gpa is not going to change anything.

Just sayin’ - everyone has great stats and has wanted to go to USC since they were in diapers, etc., you have to offer way more than that. If there’s not new info, the result will be the same - oh and you may wait months to get closure. It has been August sometimes when people hear their appeal didn’t go through. But if you want to go for it, then write that letter!
