2020-2021 USC Transfer

Just uploaded my unofficial transcripts for my SGR today. Hoping to hear back soon!

@mlplover69 hey same herrings sent it so many times, and I have yet to get the application.

Just got my financial aid last night and my full tuition is covered plus some, so i just committed! (Econ, Dornsife)

Idk if anyone has the same situation as me but I received a SGR and I am not sure of which transcript to send. The California Community College I attend posts grades on web-advisor andI have two options. Either I can send an unofficial transcript that has all my grades including spring or just specifically spring grades and I would have to just screenshot them. LMK what might be the better route for no confusion.

Hey Guys! I was accepted to Marshall a few days ago. I took micro and macroeconomics at my cc and accounting 1A and 1B, but I was told that I might need to take these classes again at USC, is that true?

@allisonfiedler try calling financial aid! I called them and I had to upload my SSN as a last step. Maybe the same will happen for him!
@umuxzx Apparently switching majors within schools is fairly easy (compared to switching majors in different schools) Good luck!

rejected from an international university!

Seems I am the only one be given decision today? Alright, GL to rest of you!

@Terzzzzz hey I also found this couple days ago. It’s so sad for me and totally waste our time and money. And for sure I can’t graduate in three semesters. Btw I got spring admit.

Who heard back today?

@CADREAMIN From your experience, do some acceptances ever come out on the last day or is it usually just mass rejections?

I feel tomorrow is gonna be bad

Hahaaaa - You’re killin me, Smalls.

@Eieio123 It might be, but I mean there were acceptances on 5/31 last year. It is really hard to predict. Did you get an SGR?

I got accepted for Fall 2020 [(click here for my stats)](USC 2020-2021 Transfer Students STATS & DECISIONS ONLY - #52 by Efficacy28 - University of Southern California - College Confidential Forums). I got an SGR earlier last month, but my CC doesn’t submit final grades 'til mid-June, which made me wonder why I got an SGR in the first place. I hope I get a financial aid package before the commit deadline because UCLA accepted me too, so I want to weigh my options.

@Laneyhlc Yeah thats why I am a little hesitant. And Im a spring admit too!

Random question, since I know this is an active thread with a lot of people who got SGRs! For those whose schools partake in optional pass/fail, how are you going about it? My grade in one class ended up barely dipping into the lowest grade I’ve ever gotten in college and keeping it brings my final GPA at this school to a 3.84 vs. 3.88, but on the other hand, I’m worried that anyone who ever looks at my transcript will just assume a pass grade was a C or D (it was a B-, so not the worst, but still substantially lower than I’m used to). Just hoping for some input!

@transfer2024 when you submitted your appeal, did you combine the cover page and the actual appeal together as one file?

@CHVRCHES I personally think having a B- is better than reverting to a Pass/No Pass grading scale for the Spring semester. Admissions counselors do understand that due to COVID-19, exceptions are being made for such transition to the P/NP grading scale. However, your GPA is still competent for admissions and I think you should keep on trying and get that B- or even higher if your grade improves. However, if the grade does drop to a C, then considering the move towards P/NP is indeed plausible. However, if the course is a pertinent major-prep related course, then I would recommend taking the course for a letter grade. I am personally taking all my classes for a letter grade. An admissions counselor on the admissions blog on the USC website had responded to a question, stating that a B is not bad at all. So, I would not worry too much! I wish you the best and hope things work out for you:))

I’ve seen a lot of people asking about the appeals process for transfers and I have some experience with it since I appealed last year (unsuccessfully). I sent my official appeal letter to my admissions counselor and she said that she passed it on to the appeals committee but because transfer appeals are reviewed last in the admissions process, it is unknown when I would receive a decision. I received the rejection about 1.5 weeks before fall semester started so around August 15th. If you are serious about appealing, you should take the shot but keep in mind that the chances of them actually reversing their initial decision is very slim and you shouldn’t maintain hope (sorry to be frank). You should probably consider your other options (if you did apply to other schools) and commit to them in the meantime. They really don’t have a set timeline for appeals. However, if you are a freshman right now, you always have another admissions cycle to apply within and you could always work on your grades + extracurriculars for your next application. They rejected me and my appeal last year but accepted me this year and I’m planning on transferring in as a junior fall 2020. Good luck!
