I was thinking the same thing @makeupyourmind, it would make sense that perhaps they have not outright rejected some candidates after SGR b c they are in a holding pattern for last minute open spots for certain schools. Tho just seems cruel to string them along to mid-July & then reject them, but it’s what I signed up to do since USC is my #1 school since 8th grade, SIGH. So I wouldn’t be too offended if a highly competitive school like Annenberg ends up rejecting me, as long as I still have a shot at being accepted into my 2nd major.
But didn’t they say spring grade requests aren’t waitlists though? I’m still confused about the spring grade request and rolling base system…
Seeing how everyone is very anxious (and i don’t blame you I’m super anxious too), my friend sent his SGR around early june and didn’t hear until the last week decisions came out (like july 13ish i cant remember exactly) and he got in!! I also had another friend submit his SGR in April last year and he found out hours after submitting his and got in as well. I submitted mine in may and got rejected in june, and this year i submitted my SGR in june so i’m waiting again, probably until the last day. But that doesn’t mean I’m getting rejected or that you’re getting rejected. I totally understand everyone’s frustrations but don’t lose hope because SGR means that they’re still considering you regardless of other people’s decisions to enroll or reject the offer. My friends and I had different admissions officers so I’m almost certain that it’s just based off of your school and how fast your admissions officer releases a decision. Keep waiting, we’re almost there!! (sorry if my wording is confusing, feel free to ask any questions!)
@erina19 No, SGR’s are not a waitlist. A waitlist implies you are accepted if there is room. An SGR does not mean you are accepted, in fact we have seen 4.0 SGRs be rejected on here all the time. Lots of factors in play…some of which are well beyond your grades or essays and not in your control at all - school, major, gender, geography - all kinds of demographics, etc. - it’s all a balancing act.
@PE1999 thank you for the info!
@CADREAMIN I am seeing that a lot of people are talking about SGR, but I haven’t asked for one and got admitted to spring. Is this normal? Am I missing something? Thank you in advance.
I JUST GOT IN!!!
Yay @BobaTaroTea ! Congrats!!!
@innowin You are good, people that get SGRs (spring grade requests) have NOT been admitted yet.
@BobaTaroTea Congrats!!
@BobaTaroTea Congrats! Are you a CS major?
i went in depth in my appeal talking about how i had a manager who was racist to myself, my family members, co-workers and customers. i explained the steps i took to resolve this conflict and how it eventually resulted in her termination. i dealt with bad anxiety during this time and lost 15 pounds but i mentioned how i still persevered. i mentioned my 2 Cs in anthropology and intro to stats but i didn’t think that would really affect my admission as an annenberg student. i could send you the appeal and application if you’d like. i really don’t understand where my appeal/app went wrong.
@CADREAMIN @makeupyourmind @PE1999 Thank you so much!
For more context, I am a non-TTP, Viterbi CS applicant. Good luck with everything ya’ll, everything will work out no matter what!
@BobaTaroTea would you mind posting ur stats ?
@Portland4Life I also applied to Annenberg as a sophomore, and I sent in my SGR over a week ago with no decision yet. Your username says Portland, are you by chance applying from Oregon? Because I’m applying from a four-year in Oregon, and I sent my counselor an email after I uploaded my SGR and things went quiet from there for me as well. Just wondering if we might have the same counselor.
@PE1999 I just posted on the stats page! But here’s a bried summary
Accepted - Viterbi/Computer Science

[] College transferring from: UC Riverside/CC
[] Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP)/Legacy: No
[] Entering as: Sophomore?
[] GPA: 3.98
[] Units completed: ~90, I took a few CC classes to meet requirements and was also enrolled in cross enrollment in high school.
[] Units in progress: 0
[] Pre-reqs completed: I finished all the math courses except Linear Algebra, also finished basic physics.
[] GEs completed: 6/8

[list]
[] ECs listed on app: Mostly high school ECs: volunteer experience, code club, Marching Band. My new ECs included my involvement a few technical clubs on campus.
[] Letters of Recommendation: 2, from my professors at CC
[li] Essays : I wrote about how USC is the only school (that I could find)that has animation available to minor and my interest in research computer graphics. I also talked about when I toured USC. Honestly, my essays were pretty subpar compared to what I put in for my freshman application. However, I did appeal my decision as a freshman. My appeal was a super personel letter addressing the reasons behind my bad gpa. I was still rejected, but I think my improvement from literally failing any STEM classes in high school to aceing them in college helped alot. [/li]
I hope that helps! Good luck!
im scared.
I wonder if this means I’ll get rejected … Since someone who sent their grades in at the same time, cs major, non ttp, was accepted but I don’t have a decision yet?
@dsl123 You probably have a different admissions officer, so don’t stress about it.
@dsl123 dont worry about it too much, everything will work out in the end and you’ll be happy. Positive thinking!
