whats my USC applicant ID? The one that says reference:
or the one next to my name on FAST?
@Doodlesack im p sure it’s the reference one since some people dont even apply for financial aid
@teenybee haha no worries, glad to help! I know ): guess we will just have to wait. Good luck to you too!
@Doodlesack its the one next to your financial aid.
What is anyone’s opinion on how virtual learning into the fall will impact transfer acceptances? Someone on the Berkeley thread shared this video earlier today - UC President talking today about planning for distance learning into the fall, and it makes sense that multiple people in a dorm room is not going to work with the ongoing need for social distancing. I wonder if this will mean USC might take less transfers to spread people out in dorm rooms, or if they could accept more transfers if everyone is going to be virtual learning from home.
@mill213 I was wondering the same thing too. I am in a very similar situation of being a Dornsife sophomore applicant and have not received an SGR. I submitted my winter grades without asking too, I just thought it couldn’t hurt. I have a 4.0 GPA and already completed the math and writing requirement. I know everyones process looks different, so I’m trying to take it as a positive as they have everything they need. I hope that we all get some sort of answers soon! Best of luck!
@WCWSM52 I think it could potentially have an impact. My theory is many people will get a SGR this time because grades will change for some. Now if we are talking #’s not sure, I do know USC accepted a lot more freshmen this year. Not sure why though?
ive also noticed that so far, only ttp students have gotten acceptances, while everyone else who’s heard back has gotten an SGR… makes me scared bc it seems like a lot less transfers will be accepted.
@WCWSM52 I’ve been bouncing theories back and forth in my head since the shelter in place started, and i keep coming back to the thought that they might take more people because if they’re going online they could essentially have more students logged on and therefore more tuition money in their pockets. My current friends at Berkeley have mentioned they’re not returning for the fall if they go online again (which i totally understand), and I think the schools may account for that by taking in more people to offset the students who will take a gap year or semester. And, not trying to be bleak, but there is a chance some of the current students and acceptances may not be able to come next semester due to family circumstances or even getting sick and something happening, so i think schools may accept slightly more people in order to account for the possible drop in student attendance for next semester. I think non ttp people are getting SGR or nothing at all because they just got done going through the TTP applications first, which makes sense. I don’t think getting or not getting a SGR means anything for now because I think they’re just genuinely not starting their admissions for the non TTP people, which is A LOT of applications. I’m pretty sure they took a break last month while the world was falling apart, which means they’re doing it all now. idk just some thoughts I had.
@PBJelly2020 thank you, you too!! if you get a request for a SGR or anything lmk, I’m just curious since it does seem we are in very similar situations, I’ll make sure to do the same if I get one
whats my USC applicant ID? The one that says reference:
or the one next to my name on FAST?
SOMEONE said is the reference the other the number next to your FAST name, which one is it?? hahah kinda urgent
@Doodlesack I received an email from them about a month after submitting my application titled “Additional Info Required”, it was essentially them asking me to complete my final step of submitting financial aid. At the top of the email they listed my USCID, but if you aren’t able to find an email like this, you can click the FAST link that takes you to the summary of your financial aid, and at the top of that page it should say Your Name (USCID). hope this helped!
@hermit1214 I wouldn’t worry too much about SGR–I heard they usually send them out to
- People who are currently enrolled in transfer prerequisite courses, or
- People who don’t have a very long academic history (like sophomore transfers I guess?)
If I had to guess, SCA probably doesn’t have as many transfer course requirements as other schools at USC, so not getting a SGR might mean you’ve already completed all your transfer requirements.
They did tell me during my interview I might have to take an extra year to get through all the coursework for the major, seems like they basically assumed a lot of the courses I’ve taken wouldn’t transfer over.
@yinhan yeah, I guess I’m just overthinking now. Lol. I’m rather nervous, I have 58 credits (16 in progress) and my writing requirement is still in progress. Then I still have to do 3 GE’s instead of their suggested 2.
on the decision page someone said they heard back yesterday, so any day is game for all of us to hear back! stay hopeful!!
Anyone know if someone got a 4.0 in Fall and Spring, could they still get rejected even when they got an SGR?
@uschopeful23 what decision page? are they non-ttp? i’m just curious of their stats
do you think we will hear today? (non-ttp student)

@historylover5 I applied to Annenberg last year and had gotten a 4.0 in Fall and Spring. I got an SGR and was rejected. Though I had completed all of the required GEs, I had not taken many major related classes and I think that was my downfall. I switched majors and applied to Marshall this year. I’m a legacy but not TTP and haven’t received an SGR yet this year.
