@mill213 Not necessarily, they could still give you a SGR later on which could cause you to get your decision a lot later unfortunately
Anyone else notice the USC portal had a mini-update to include a “USC Applicant Portal” header?
Am I just overthinking or could this be a sign of decisions coming soon?
@usctransfersquad I was just about to mention the same thing about the little update!
Mine looks like that too, although I’m not sure it means anything
do you think we will hear anything tonight? do they ever send decisions on weekends?
guys its LITERALLY just “USC Applicant Portal” added lol, we already know decisions are starting to roll out. It’s not something important/notable like the withdraw thing being gone.
So this past wednesday USC requested a SGR from me probably because I’m taking calc 2 this semester which is a pre req for Viterbi. Given the current situation with COVID-19 and everything, would taking a CR in one of my other classes (not calc 2) look bad on me?
@Brandon1225 What’s a CR? Assuming its similar to a withdraw, imo it depends on how many classes you’re taking and what the class you want to withdraw from is.
@bean01262020 CR means that you are able to receive credit with at least a C, and it ultimantley will not affect your gpa. I’m on the bridge with a B+/A- for my computer science class at my current college that will transfer to USC as a elective. I’m taking 4 other classes besides this one.
@Brandon1225 ah, so it’s like a Pass grade. I’d suggest talking to a counselor about it, but generally, most of the schools value letter grades more. I don’t know USC’s policy for Pass/CR grades in this current situation because it might have change, so I’d definitely recommend asking a counselor.
Any TTPs out there who still hasn’t received anything?
@Brandon1225 if you call and get an answer from admissions about that lmk what they say! I’m not a Viterbi applicant but I’m in the same boat. I have A’s for all my other classes but I’m thinking about doing pass/fail for the one that I’m in A- territory for so that I can hold the 4.0 but I don’t want them to look negatively upon it because it’s not a grade
wassup everyone, just wanted to know if anyone still has the option to withdraw their app.
@sleeplessincali I don’t think it will have an impact on admission, but you will be limited to 64 transferable units though.
@mill213 depends. I’ve heard people hearing back from USC last week of May.
@tahamojo i still have the option, do you?
@mill213 yeah I still got the option too but I know some people that don’t have it anymore
@sleeplessincali Got rejected from Berkeley yesterday too. It sucks that they required so many GE’s that had nothing to do with my major. Now i’m worried USC may not think i’m serious about a business major since I didn’t take as many business related classes as I wanted to.
@a1allan Yeah same, they haven’t taken anyone from my community college for my major in six years, and I realized after I got rejected that even though my community college doesn’t offer the really specific and ridiculous psych courses and even though they say they will take that into account they really didn’t… oh well. Honestly with USC as long as you finished the required courses you’re fine. I’m assuming you applied to berkeley as a business major for Haas, and they had less the 4% acceptance this year so don’t take it personal. Also, I’m from the bay, and the officials at berkeley are really pretentious, you’re gonna do great things and I think USC will take you seriously.
Will honors courses help me among transfer, or will regular courses be alright as well for USC?
