Just saw the email, thanks! Best of luck to you!!
@crustaceans93 looks good to me! Also really cool you founded a business.
@TransferGuy08 I did complete the prerequisites by Fall 2019.
I honestly didn’t have much ECs. I’m a Navy veteran, I go to school full time and work part time. I think my essays really allowed USC to see my story and my desire to be apart of the Trojan family.
Any SCA transfer peeps get anything beyond an SGR yet?
@hermit1214 Last year SCA was pretty wild. A lot of you guys heard back even later than usual. Hopefully it’s not that bad this time around.
@seabee91 omg posts were flying by quickly so I missed that you got accepted! Congrats and thank you for your service. So happy to see you got in! Marshall is great.
shoot i’m a dornsife narrative studies major and received an email for a SGR tonight. worried because i’ve gotten into some UC’s such as berkeley and the response date is june 1st. my spring semester doesn’t end until late may so i’d imagine i wouldn’t hear back from usc before needing to respond to the other schools
@subwooferlullaby can you ask those schools for an extension?
@subwooferlullaby Yes, many of you may have to commit to another school and risk losing a deposit if you get into USC or another dream school after June 1st. But plenty do that, there’s nothing unethical about it - just what you have to do to get to the school you ultimately want to attend. You can ask a school if you can have an extension on your decision deadline, some do grant that.
@CADREAMIN i thought by withdrawing a deposit you could risk losing acceptance into both schools?
That’s a freshman thing where not being committed to two schools is more “enforced.” (Even in that case people still do it.) But for transfers, it is a more common occurrence as decisions just overlap because the the notifications are all over the place. Not like freshman year when everything is done by May 1. Some people won’t find out about USC until July and yes, they will end up withdrawing from somewhere they already committed too. Happens all the time.
Anyone know when transfers usually hear back from the School of Dramatic Arts?
I still have the “withdraw your application” section in my portal. Should I be worried?
@samkim1012 Not at all! It only disappears right before you are about to receive a decision.
My kid hasn’t heard anything yet. He’s non-TTP, but further to the comments yesterday, the number of USC’s applications for Freshman Yr dropped by 6K from last year to this year. So, I’m hopeful that there might be fewer Transfer apps, thus, a better shot at admission.
@subwooferlullaby I was especially bad about this. I committed to UCLA on June 1st because I had not heard from USC yet (no SGR or anything) and as much as I wanted USC, I couldn’t just place all my bets on them accepting me. I got my decision about a week later (June 6th, I believe). It was for the spring semester, so I was a little bummed out, but for some reason, I committed to USC as well because UCLA started so much later than USC that I figured if they bumped me up to the fall, I could just withdraw from UCLA. Wound up at USC in the end.
@zettasyntax thanks for the feedback! worried something similar might happen to me as well. did the changing from UCLA to USC have any financial aid repercussions? worried if i accept a financial aid offer and notify the cal grant that i’m going one place that i won’t be able to then tell them i’m going another
@subwooferlullaby Nothing complicated happened with financial aid, but that might have been because I was a spring admit. I withdrew from UCLA pretty late too. It was mid-July and I had been “Bruintized” at orientation. I’m pretty sure I accepted UCLA’s aid offer and even paid a deposit for housing, but they refunded me. I got to use what I would have gotten in grant aid at UCLA during my first summer semester at USC. Grant aid during the summer is practically non-existent, so most of the people you see are paying out of pocket for those classes during the summer.
i was asked for winter grades on the 14th, submitted them on the 15th but my checklist stil has not been marked off yet. Did anything similar happen to yall?
@99suhjw The same thing happened/is happening to me. I uploaded my winter grades in late march and then they requested mine yesterday and I reuploaded a copy of the same transcript. I think they just have a lot of documents to go through so it may take a while for them to check it off.
