2020-2021 USC Transfer

@lancer92839 Right then I would do that, unless you hear back from USC before June 1st. You can also always try asking UCLA for an extension for enrollment, that might buy you some time for your USC decision. best of luck!

@lancer92839 You can accept your UCLA decision and submit a deposit to them. Once you hear back from USC you can then withdrawal it later if you’d like but you’ll lose that deposit.

USC will not deny you because you ended up picking them after all. UCLA won’t drop you because you are still considering USC.

Paying them the deposit holds your spot but you can still go to another college if you so choose.

The reason why those waitlists exist at big time schools is for this exact reason. If you pull your acceptance later, they will put someone else in your spot. You’re fine.

any chance we hear back today?

@colb1234567 i doubt it. I’m hoping for wednesday or friday of this upcoming week

They’re not talking about only SIR’ing. They’re talking about after SIR’ing, they want to attend UCLA in the classroom by taking UCLA courses while waiting to hear back from USC. They want to attend UCLA classes in the summer & even the fall until USC offers them an acceptance. So they would be a UCLA student with transcripts from UCLA with their UCLA grades.

I don’t know the answer to that but I highly doubt USC would allow that. That would be like USC taking a UCLA transfer student instead of a community college student which may be allowed but that’s not what USC thinks they are admitting based on the application.

I’m in the exact same position as you. We have to wait until late June or even July for an answer :frowning:

I know that theres usually a small wave of Marshall next week, but when do the majority of Marshall applicants hear back?

did any of the freshman applicants in this thread apply for the UCs as well?

@nontraditional I must have missed that part. Yes, I agree with you, I find it unlikely that they would like that without prior notification, but it is complete conjecture on my part.

With that being said @lancer92839 I would recommend you speak to USC directly about this. Making a decision this big without understanding the ramifications can set you back a lot.

Has anyone applying to SCA heard anything? I’m trying to transfer into a junior, I haven’t received a request for my spring grades either. I did get an interview though. Anyone else?

@JACKDANNY I also got an interview and the only thing I’ve heard since is yesterday one of the admissions people emailed me to ask for a screenshot of my in progress classes.

@JACKDANNY Also had an interview but didn’t receive any SGR.

@UCIfirstchoice
Not so easy as a transfer mainly because of time (which means money). It is a process. If within same school (like Dornsife to Dornsife) that’s just a visit to your counselor and an easy change. For Dornsife to Marshall you have to be at USC then attend a meeting and have certain classes completed before you apply to move into Marshall the following semester or the semester after that. It is competitive, 3.8 recommended. People may get in with lower gpa, but depends on others applying and amount of openings. So you have to go through a process and often times, transfers don’t have the time for processes that could delay graduation for a semester or longer (and thus costs lots more $$$).

@Doodlesack - I know it’s frustrating but it has been this way forever and always will be. Not to be harsh, but just being real - in priority, you are not in the front of the bus. Private schools don’t even have to take transfers at all (they use to take a lot less, and the ex-pres opened the gates on more tranfers, plenty weren’t too happy about that frankly). And if someone really really wants USC, for them, the wait is worth it. For those that don’t have the patience for it, well, USC probably isn’t their dream school, and there’s plenty behind to take their place. They get that. They are in the driver’s seat, supply/demand.

I am a Junior Transfer applicant for SCA but I haven’t received anything about an interview. I know people in this thread have previously stated that it doesn’t mean I won’t be accepted but it still is making me nervous.

What was the earliest USC transfers found out last year?

@lavidaenrosa there were a few non-ttp but mainly ttp early april (just like this year) and then the first small wave with dornsife and marshall came out may 1st in 2019, in 2018 it was april 27th i believe.

@mill213 thank you!!

@Nightmanrunneth Oh I’m an oldie. My acceptance happened on June 6th 2015. I’m doing my MS at UW now. I tried for USC twice. The first cycle, I got an SGR on April 23rd and was rejected in early/mid July. I’d have to double check for sure.

^That is one brutal timeline @zettasyntax! But in the end, it all worked out! Are u sheltering in Seattle or back in Socal for now?

@CADREAMIN Thanks for your response! It is really helpful and I appreciate it!
