2020-2021 USC Transfer

Hi everyone! This is my second year applying, as I got rejected last year. I actually found at last year on June 20th with an SGR. I applied from an out of state university last year but due to family circumstances, I’m at a CCC this year. Hopefully I can get in this year! @zettasyntax do you know anyone who has been in the same situation as me and how their decision turned out?

@CADREAMIN I know. I was 20 the first time I applied to USC and now I’m 26. The years have flown by. I actually started this academic year at home to care for my mother, so I’ve been in SoCal for awhile and before all this craziness happened. The change to online classes really didn’t affect me since I had already been doing them for autumn quarter. The CLMS program is pretty great with online classes. One of the professors is super into it and had a microphone called a catchbox that she would throw around the room so online students could hear questions asked by in-person students. Of course, that aspect has changed now that there are no students in a physical classroom, but some of the professors are really great online and I feel like the quality of the content hasn’t really suffered. I have to say that I do miss the traditional classroom experience though.

@Shwchlorine Hmm, I’m not sure about that exact situation, but there have been several students that started at a university and then wind up at a CC. The difference is that they usually take a little break from their education before doing so. Lots of non-trads students get into USC as transfers. Anyway, I don’t think the switch would impact you negatively or anything. I personally think USC admires students who try to transfer again. It is a brutal process. Things worked out better for me the second time around as well, so hopefully the same happens for you

Just got a SGR as a non TTP applicant out of state private school

@dunnowheretogo are you currently a freshman or sophomore applicant? And good luck with it!!

@sadcollegegirl01 I’m in the same position as you. Didn’t get an interview & definitely nervous!

@WCWSM52 thanks!! And I’m a freshman applicant

If they asked for my winter grades instead of spring, would I get an admission decision faster?

@bruin1993 Hopefully it just means that we gave them all the information they wanted! In an interview with someone on the SCA Admissions Committee they said that if they want more information about something and the application didn’t provide them that info, then they’ll do an interview. Best of luck to you!!

anyone know when decisions come out for ppl applying for school of Annenberg?

i didnt get an SGR yet and I’m a freshman right now. should I be worried?

Would anyone happen to have any insight (from previous stats/personal experience) on the probability of an SGR resulting in an acceptance/rejection? In my case, I’m currently a sophomore at a CC and have a 4.0 w/ all major req’s met and 7/8 GE’s (taking one right now but we only really need 6). I got an SGR and I’m wondering if this is USC’s way of telling me if I keep up the 4.0 I’m getting in? I can’t think of any other reason they’d string me along and still reject me in July after I maintain a 4.0, what would be the point of that? All of the typical reasons for an SGR don’t apply to me, so I honestly don’t know what else they’d want from me lol.

@trilogies there are a lot of people that applies for transfer with a 4.0, not all of them are accepted. The best way to get an answer to your question is by asking the admissions office directly.

I’m a junior applicant whos done all prereq and GE yet still have gotten an SGR, let alone this early. I’ve seen people with the same GPA as me who gotten in. All I can think about why is that they want students with SGRs to get in as spring admits but i honestly dont know…

@CADREAMIN I applied to USC under Cognitive Science, though recently In the last semester or two I have been liking the psych and biology less and less and the software and programming a lot more. Do you know if there is a chance to switch to CS? I have been programming since age 7 and truly believe I will fare well in those classes. I have an offer from Cal and a waitlist from UCLA but if I could attend USC for CS that may tip the scales.

@erina19 Actually an SGR does not mean spring admit. Many people get into Fall, some do get into Spring. Could go either way, same as if you found out without an SGR.

Does anyone know when the Price School of Public Policy release their admissions? There seems to be a lot less people in here this year in respect to that area.

@justasadboy I’m in the same boat. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. They seem to send out decisions in waves, so I guess we’ll just get our decisions or a SGR in a later wave. I don’t know about you, but I’m super frustrated haha

Has anyone not received an WGR, SGR or an Interview? I’m currently a sophomore at an 4 year out-of-state public school (with over 90 quarter credits) and I’m planning to transfer into Annenberg. I’m getting a lot less confident now that I know a lot of people have been getting interviews and SGR’s.

I just received an email that I needed to submit my high school transcript, but I had already submitted one, and now my portal says I didn’t. What should i do?

the interviews aren’t in regards to your major. theyre for SCA and other art
