@anervouswreck same here. im a freshman right now and I applied for Annenberg and I haven’t gotten an SGR or anything yet
Got my acceptance Monday April 20th as a junior community college transfer into vertibi, CECS (Computer Engineering and Computer Science) major.
Extracurricular: Military veteran (U.S Air Force 2014-2018), math and computer science tutoring job at my CC, some clubs, and MESA
GPA was 3.6, did a semester before the military when i was not taking school seriously and got mostly B’s and 1 C. Upward trend since then to mostly a 4.0, i got a B in mech physics and B in calc1, but that was my first semester out of the military after having not taken a math or science class in over 5 years so i think they took that into consideration. I have completed all the math(calc1-3, linear alg, and diff eqs) and physics(Mech and E&M) trasnfer stuff with an A with the exception of Mech Phys and Calc 1(B’s in those as previously stated)
I am not apart of any special transfer program.
Applied to: USC, Berkeley, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, NYU, Brown, Vanderbilt, and Cornell
Accepted: USC, Berkeley, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCSB (my UC GPA was a 3.7 due to them replacing a trig based physics grade with the B i got in calculus based mechanical physics)
Denied:None
Hear back from NYU, Brown, Vanderbilt, and Cornell in early/mid May.

I got my acceptance Monday, April 20th
I wish I knew the context of the SGR’s or WGR’s! I feel like there are more people who are getting them than those who aren’t so I’m getting really confused.
Anybody know when Marshall releases majority of decisions?
@anevouswreck my only guess is maybe they want to see how you did this semester with the online switch since they’re looking into making fall online as well (would you adapt well to online at USC if you were accepted). it makes sense for freshman and those with borderline GPAs to get WGR/SGR but a LOT of people are getting them this year.
wait, fall has a high chance of being online as well?
@mattamania I don’t want to say a high chance, I just know they’re looking into it. They announced they will make a decision by June 15, but anything could happen from now until then. I’m just suggesting that they may be requesting more SGRs to see how applicants are adjusting to online and use that info to gauge how well they would do if USC did choose to switch to online. To reiterate, though, they have not made a definite decision yet, and these are just my thoughts I could be totally wrong!
@freckledskylight I had the same issue- I contacted admissions and they said to just send them your unofficial hs transcript
@uwseej By any chance, are you applying for Marshall?
USC is NOT looking at making fall all online!
They know that would be a disaster. They are working towards in-person classes and new scheduling to accomodate as much in person as they can.
This is the same amount of SGRs they have put out every year for last decade. This year is not any more than any other year. But if an applicant slides this last semester, that is good info for them to have. Pedal has to be to the metal the entire time.
Some 4.0s won’t get in because lots with 4.0s apply and some don’t write as compelling of an application or there isn’t room in a major. Lots of reasons. This is a private school and very holistic. It is not like a UC in regards to admission.
@CADREAMIN
The UC’s are pretty holistic as well…i got into both UCLA and Berkeley with a 3.7 where the 25-75% for my major was 3.85-4.0
@mattamania Yes, but UCs are made to take transfers - it is a formal pathway for them, that is what I meant - USC is a private school, there are different expectations to get in there than a public school that is set up to work with the feeder CCs.
All schools are holistic to some degree of course, then demographics come in to play on top of supply demand for each school/major. Just trying to dissuade the idea that a 4.0 is a slam dunk everywhere. It is just one part of the admissions puzzle.
@CADREAMIN Do you think that since this year may 31st falls on a Sunday, we could see most decisions released on Friday the 29th?
They should be out earlier that week, like Wed or Thurs, they usually don’t wait till the last possible day.
Just got a WGR. Freshman applicant currently in a UC school. Non-TTP
@yjliu
wow they send a mail on weekend too??
Did anyone get an email from a USC admissions counselor personally? I just got one and I am not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing.
My daughter has not received an email like that. Sounds positive to me.
@urlocalreject what did they say???
