2020-2021 USC Transfer

Do any of you know if they get back to the incoming junior transfers before the sophomores? Or is it completely random the way they go about the applications?

What USC admissions told me last year was that after they review your application they make a decision and send it out pretty much immediately (probably same week?). They do not hold onto it nor do they have a “method” for checking them. I don’t believe that but that’s what they say.

@hermit1214 I didn’t but that’s likely because I technically graduated, but I mentioned in one of my essays how I was using spring to work and pay off my debts so I could leave my job if I get accepted.

@anotherbun AH! That makes sense

Hey does anyone know how long we have to submit a SGR?

Just saw a WGR appear on my applicant checklist, even though I submitted one earlier this month (I wasn’t specifically asked tho). I wonder if I will still get a decision before May 31?

Hi I have a higher G.P.A of 3.9 from a UC but I have taken 2 pass/no pass classes, do you think that this will hurt me?

@lavidaenrosa imo, it depends on the class and how it relates to your major. I think USC would prefer to see letter grades for classes relating to your major, but I could be wrong given the current situation that we are in.

@lavidaenrosa @bean01262020 Normally I would agree with you but USC themselves were offering P/NP options for their current students. This might be counter to public opinion but I think the harder the class is the more they’ll accept the idea of a P/NP.

Also, if you get rejected you can appeal that decision and please cite that your school offered P/NP options due to the pandemic. It would likely help your cause.

So does anyone have an idea of when they come out? Potentially tomorrow or Friday?

Thank you @bean01262020 and @NavyGuy2019 It makes me feel better that they were GE stats and math classes not related to my poli sci major. Hopefully USC feels that way too!

May 1st is usually the day we see a wave. So maybe Friday

Just checked my portal (8:28 PDT) and saw an SGR in my checklist. An email has not come in yet.

Hi guys,
I got a SGR in early April, and now it is not on the portal anymore. Anyone having that issue?

how many hours do those of you getting SGR have?

@grapesoda2 If you mean credit hours, then I have 25 from community college and 24 from AP classes. I don’t think SGR depends only on credit hours, it could also be your grades trend, and USC just wants to see whether you can maintain your academics while being a well-rounded student.

A question for anyone in general, maybe the experts @CADREAMIN or @zettasyntax can help me with this. I’ve heard that applicants who receive SGRS also receive an email detailing exactly what USC wants to see from that applicant (like an A in a certain class). Is this true?

@PotatoButter I didn’t! I even asked my counselor and he wasn’t too specific either ugh :’(

I’m getting more nervous about not receiving a SGR/WGR. Do you think there is a chance that they just haven’t looked at my application yet? Do they tend to reject more people who don’t get SGR’s rather than those who do?

If I haven’t received a spring grade request, is that a bad sign? I am a freshman at Vanderbilt University applying as a transfer sophomore. I was admitted to USC as a senior in high school in January of 2019 as a Trustee Scholarship finalist, and ended up getting the Presidential Scholarship.
