@mlplover69 I was just about to email my counselor. I think they might not want to ask for specifics because of COVID-19 and they understand that looking at the whole picture might be more beneficial than a grade in a single class. They probably want to see how you’re handling the current pandemic situation with the online classes and everything as a whole. That’s just my $0.02 though, we could receive an email soon which might have more details, but I’m not too sure to be honest.
During my time at ccc (2 years) I completed 123.5 credit hours, but I think the reason I received a grade request is because they wanted to see my calculus grade, as I took math 1A (calc 1) during my winter quarter. I am currently taking my math 1b (calc 2) class this spring quarter.
Last year I didn’t receive a spring grade request until May 17th. So if you’re expecting one there’s still plenty of time to receive one.
My SGR was originally on the portal and received an email about 2 days later, but it has now disappeared.
@carsf27 I don’t think you should worry about a SGR. It sounds like you’re fine. Just curious, but why did you turn down USC last year and why do you want to transfer out of Vanderbilt this year?
If I do not submit TOEFL, will I automatically reject ?
or will I have a chance to go the English institution?
I just got an SGR last night. However, I can’t send them anything because my spring semester still hasn’t ended. My stats are available on the STATS ONLY thread if you guys are interested. Not too confident about my decision, but who knows. Be patient my friends! We’ll get our decisions soon!
Hi. I am guessing you are international (wild guess) as same as me! TOEFL is a requirement for acceptance for us international students where English is not the official language. Other universities may have alternatives of what to send in, such as an IELTS, Duolingo exam, or SAT English subscores. I don’t think this is the case of USC. My point is that you cannot be accepted if you can’t prove English fluency through an official test. I find it weird that they haven’t contacted asking you to submit it. They probably will soon. If I were you, I would submit the TOEFL results (if you have one) or try asking them for any possible alternatives.
I hope this helps!
Have any applicants currently attending an international institute got a request for WGR or SGR?
@mexboy Thanks! I contacted them. So your opinion is If my TOEFL score is under 100, just submit it? I saw 'Once admitted, any student not demonstrating adequate English proficiency will be required to enroll in the American Language Institute (ALI) at USC. ALI provides courses designed to improve an international student’s oral and writing skills in English. ’ on the website.
@choiii Same here. Are you currently an undergrad in the states? I am now a sophomore in the states and my toefl score expired at the end of last year. I emailed them about the situation and they waived the toefl requirement for me. So if you are now an undergrad in the states and survive your first one or two years, you won’t need an toefl score to show that you are fluent in English.

@choiii I think you don’t need to submit it unless it shows up on your application checklist. I wouldn’t submit a score under 100 since it might hurt your chance of getting in. I’m also an international student and I scored 114 on TOEFL, I have many friends that are also applying got scores higher than 110.
I haven’t heard anything since I submitted my application. I think I would pay the deposit of U of Michigan and just keep waiting for USC then…
i hope some of us hear tonight!
What days of the week does USC usually release decisions? Also is there a certain time of day that they usually release them? Or is it random?
@accepted33 Lately people have been hearing back on Wednesdays and Fridays.
@accepted33 I’m anticipating Friday for the first wave. Dating back from last year, it was on May 1st @5pm.
When the first wave came out on May 1st last year did it include rejections?
@dood523 no, rejections usually come in a large wave may 22ish I believe
