2020-2021 USC Transfer

@CADREAMIN Yes, I did. I received the request on Monday, and I had to submit it the following day. Does that mean that there’s a possibility that they’ll be sending SCA decisions soon?

@OJJJJJJJJBK Hi, But when I asked about the English test to the USC Counselor, he told me international student should submit it.
How do you think about it? Should I submit it?

@choiii I would send the score ONLY if they told you to do so. It looks like they are asking the score from you, so I think you should submit it. However, a score under 100 will highly likely hurt your chance of getting in since they might want to look at your score and see if that matches your academic performance in the U.S.

How long does it usually take to hear back from an SGR? I got my request on April 15th and submitted it yesterday after I took my last exam for the semester.

@hermit1214 The professor I interviewed with had mentioned that they’d be making decisions soon; at the time he had said within a week or two (which was almost three weeks ago). Wouldn’t be surprised if that means decisions should be coming out any day now.
Do you know if they release all the acceptance decisions for SCA in one wave?

@4yourhope are there a lot of transfers in Annenberg? Thats what I applied for…

@anotherbun I got bored and scanned through 2017, 2018, 2019 transfer threads here at CC. I noticed that most of the results came on the 24th, but there were some that got accepted in June or July. But then again, it might be different now.

If USC goes online for fall 2020, do you guys think all transfer acceptances will be moved to spring 2021?

@syls0507 i HIGHLY doubt it, they want their money

SCA is traditionally pretty late in the game, but maybe after last year’s issue with some decisions that occurred after the deadline, perhaps they have streamlined things. This is certainly a year unlike any other, so why not? Guess all there is to do is wait.

@jdambrosi It’s hard to say for sure because there is so much variability to it. If you skimmed through past years, you see things like anywhere from two weeks to a month. Others have claimed within the same week and at least one person even said the very same day! I think within two weeks might be average. I submitted spring grades in early June (which was when my semester was over) and heard back on June 27th.

@zettasyntax Do you think that them contacting us directly to see our progress in our current coursework mean that they’ll come up with decisions soon?

Are SDA decisions also later than usual? Does anyone know anything about that?

@syls0507 I almost hope fall 2020 is all online instead of the hybrid bs that most colleges are planning. Not everyone can afford to move away and pay tens of thousands just to do mostly online classes.

@a1allan the sad part is they’re still gonna charge their students 25k for learning through a screen for the fall semester

@hermit1214 What you got doesn’t really sound like an SGR at all. It sounds quite unique. It could still take some time, because it sounds like they need this information from you to make a final decision. The second time I applied for transfer, I was contacted by my admissions counselor on May 7th/8th (don’t remember the exact date) and he said that he needed another copy my GED. I thought this information was still on file, but apparently it got lost or something. I didn’t hear back until June 6th, so it still took almost an entire month for me to hear back. Historically SCA really is one of the last to release the bulk of their decisions, but maybe with what’s happening this year, they have the time to work on things faster than usual. Only time will tell.

@zettasyntax Aw man my anxiety can only take so much ?
But you’re right, time will eventually tell

I hope we hear back tomorrow!

Thank you!

@zettasyntax Yeah, that’s why I’m overthinking it quite a bit. It wasn’t my admissions counselor or my interviewer, but the assistant director for admissions. It wasn’t just me that got it, one other person on here got it too. I wanted to know if it was a good thing or not because I combed through previous threads and haven’t seen anyone say that they’ve been contacted directly to see their current coursework.

can someone who knows a bit more about usc’s admissions patterns help me out a little bit? I applied to dornsife as a psychology major with a pretty solid first semester gpa from vanderbilt, and i think my spring gpa will be even better. however, i decided to take developmental psychology pass/fail because the professor was painfully inconsistent when it came to exam material (for example, the first exam had questions on oddly specific details about supplemental readings and the second was almost entirely textbook and class material, even though he told us it’d be similar to the first exam). i figured that getting a pass is better than a fat c+ showing up on my transcript. will this hurt my chances? also, is it maybe worth emailing admissions to let them know that i decided to take the class pass/fail (not why i did it, just to let them know)?
