2020-2021 USC Transfer

@guudluck I would be shocked if a big wave didn’t happen this week. Everyone will have heard something by May 31st (besides maybe an incredibly rare outlier), so we are only a few weeks out now.

@helpmeplease2022 You should absolutely 100% contact your admissions counselor and inform them that you had to drop an EC course due to the COVID-19. Your admissions counselor is the first person to look at your full admissions packet and therefore has a lot of swing in a decision. Informing them WHY you had to drop a course will help clear up any issues before them become one.

I recommend sending them an email as you can both have a paper trail and you can use it as “evidence” in case you need to appeal a rejection later (I’m not saying you’re going to be rejected-- so please don’t fret-- it is not that big of a deal considering the situation and the EC course itself).

thank you! Also- should I be weary of pass/failing classes now that i have an SGR? NYU’s policy changed so we can pass fail anything we want but I wouldn’t want to if it impacted my admission

One P/F is not a big deal, but doing it for more than one class may be a negative.

@helpmeplease2022 I did the same thing. I looked up my admission counselor’s email and explained which class I dropped. I was ahead in my math courses so in my case it worked out, but you can explain which course and the situation. He responded “You will be fine.” and didn’t ask me to notify anyone officially (I sent the email without my student id).

@Sri12345 Correct above, you do not need to send in official AP score report until admitted. On the app is fine until then.

Hope we’re all hanging in there! This process is agonizing wowie, I didn’t apply to colleges in high school so this is my first time going through something like this. I haven’t gotten an SGR yet, but I completed 6/8 of the GEs, have 64+ units, and am not working on any major requirements so I’m kind of expecting either a straight rejection or acceptance unless they want to see how I handled the COVID situation. Hopefully we all hear from them soon (looking at you Dornsife!), hang in there and try to keep a positive attitude no matter what even though this is a rough process.

Has anyone received a decision yet?

Was there a wave on the first ?

@wwu9907 a few people have received a decision.
@Doodlesack no

Do you guys think decisions will come out today?

For Marshall specifically?

Why all the speculation around Marshall for today? Decisions have been released on Wednesdays and Fridays thus far…

@dood523 It is just pure speculation. It is possible they’ll release decisions today but there is nothing to support it either way. We’ve seen historically that they like to release on Wednesdays and Fridays but that can only be used as anecdotal evidence at this point.

It could come out today, it could come out tomorrow. You’ll know when you receive an email saying to check it.

AGAIN, DO NOT STRESS YOURSELF OUT TRYING TO GUESS THIS. It does not help you. If people start saying they were accepted then check your portal. If you receive an email, check your portal.

Like everyone else, I hope it comes out sooner than later. Best of luck to you all.

Hello guys, I applied to Viterbi as a computer science major and I just signed up for classes for the summer of 2020. I will be taking a math class, Differential Equations. Should I email my counselor about it? I’m not too sure if it’s a major requirement because on the Viterbi transfer plan the highest math they suggest is Linear Algebra, which I am currently taking. If you have finished Linear Algebra then the website suggests you give them a call to see what math class to take after Linear Algebra. Would informing my counselor of me taking Differential Equations in the summer impact my application. I was thinking that it probably wouldn’t since by the Summer I would possibly already have an admission decision from USC either way.

@uscpls When I talked to a USC AO in-person, they said that summer courses do not matter in regards to your application and decision.

@helpmeplease2022 i’m applying from nyu as well! didn’t receive an SGR yet tho… what school did u apply to if u don’t mind me asking?

Have any marshall applicants (Non-ttp) gotten a decision yet whether it be SGR or accept/reject?

@kimnyongan I received a WGR on April 27th, but nothing since.

Hello! I am a current High School student and I am attending a UC this coming fall and might transfer to usc. I have 2 questions; 1) Can I fulfill the lower division writing requirement (Writ 130) at my local community college online before my fall quarter or does it have to be at my transfer institution? 2) When I was a junior (High School), during summer, I took a stats class at my local community college, I have come to find out that the math requirement for my major at usc also requires that same class. Since I’ve already taken that class does it satisfy the requirement or do I need to take it again at my UC campus in the fall again?

@KyawCR7 All you need to do is check the articulation agreement for your community college and make sure those courses transfer. It doesn’t have to be from where you are transferring. Here is the link: https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx
