2020-2021 USC Transfer

I also got an email to send something. I think it was automatic though.

@choiii What is your highest TOEFL or IELTS score?

I was asked for SGR and WGR And I will have 90 credits and a degree by the end of the spring quartet so I’m not sure what they’re waiting forJust checking with you that could make a decision because I have over 50 credits but that doesn’t mean they do decisions when you get all the applications and then make decisions and has anyone been rejected yet

@Bellevue34 you got SGR for USC today? and I haven’t seen anyone on this message board receive a rejection yet.

The mass rejections come out all at once before the 31st.

@CADREAMIN that is frightening

@CADREAMIN oh boy

I’m an international student and I asked my counselor if I could get my English proficiency score requirement waived because my toefl score expired. But when I looked at my portal today it said it’s awaiting for English proficiency score. Should I email my counselor again about this? Is anyone else having the same problem?

How do you guys know you received a SGR? will a message pop up on my portal or is it under upload materials?

Do students with 4.0s receive SGRs?

yep. i did

@jane1230
It may depend on your TOEFL score, but most likely you gotta take ISE (International Student Exam) and take additional English courses if you can’t pass it.
But I would recommend you to upload your expired score report just in case.

@subwooferlullaby Man, I wonder what the SGRs are for then, if it’s not to check for improvement of grades. (And the difference between who gets them and who doesn’t.)

@Dudu123456 Yeah that’s what I was saying earlier as well. I don’t really know what more they can gather from my application by seeing another 4.0 semester, there would be no improvement. Maybe they’re just looking to see if there was a decline but that would make less sense when you take into account everything that’s going on with COVID. I wouldn’t care as much it just stinks because now my response will be substantially delayed despite my GPA remaining unchanged. One of my friends is in the same position though so I think there’s a subset of us out there

@Yarennirm It will show up in your admissions portal and you will receive an email notifying you of such.

When did everyone get SGRs? I haven’t gotten anything in a while.

I had 4.0 freshman fall, and they asked for my SGR on April 23rd.

Is it possible to accept a sophomore transfer that has below a 4.0 with no SGR?

@Nazarzzzz anything is possible since they use a holistic approach when viewing apps. there’s no specific “code” to getting accepted (i.e. no SGR/4.0/freshman, SGR/3.0/junior, etc.). you can try to gauge your acceptance by comparing your stats to others but at the end of the day there’s only one you! everyone’s process is different, just stick it out until you hear from USC :smile: best of luck!

Do you think USC may have granted more appeals this year and brought in a larger freshman class instead of increasing the transfer acceptance rate? Just something I thought they could be doing but I have no evidence.
