@cstp28 Seems like the Calc BC test was glitchy for a lot of students. MyD20 also had problem with it and another last week and isn’t opting for retakes as she was using the test results as assessments of her progress, not in attempt to get college credit.
I will be asking for a refund for those two tests. Yes, a make-up was offered but declined. My D20’s deserves to be compensated for her time.
Glad to hear things went well for your test anxiety daughter with APES!
late on the board, but I could not submit my AP Italian yesterday…no biggie to CB…they just told me to sign up for the retake. Absolutely no accountablity!
@Luckyjade2024 : “late on the board, but I could not submit my AP Italian yesterday…no biggie to CB…they just told me to sign up for the retake. Absolutely no accountablity!”
Can you describe the problem you had? There were problems with my kid’s classmates and I wonder if yours will mirror what happened with them.
Yes, I took my entire exam, verbally, on my phone. When I went to submit the app crashed. Nothing was sent or saved. But I didn’t even get a notification on the screen of what happened.
I sat on hold for hours…no answer.
I emailed…no answer.
My mother contacted them on twitter…they said to sign up for the makeup exam.
This is extremely annoying and unfair. Absolutely no accountability. Not even a trouble shooting hotline. And why are we taking an AP exam on a phone app???
@Luckyjade2024 So frustrating! Unlike many of the other exams this week, languages don’t have the email option – which is like “If all else fails, try this!” feature. So unfair to students taking these language tests. Even if you decided to take the retake, who’s to say this won’t happen again!
I encourage you, or you parent, to stay on the phone and wait for an agent to answer so you can log your complaint and perhaps open a case. I just put my phone on low speaker and go about my business and when someone from CB picks up, then I engage the call.
@Luckyjade2024 Yes, I have gotten through to CB and my case has gone up the chain of command little by little. Still no resolution or answers. D20 did not sign up for retakes as she would like either her work to be accepted retroactively (time stamped images), or a refund. Ideally both, but that’s asking a lot from a company who’s initial response has been poor.
It’s never helpless! That’s why class action lawsuits erupt and petitions get signed. It gives a voice volume, momentum, and a collective.
Here’s something also frustrating. S took several practice mechanics APs, did great, all applied math. We’re assuming due to cheating concerns, the exam was completely conceptual, with some kids getting easy questions, others hard or a mix. But, not what they’d learned in the class or from AP mech review book. How is this fair? The E&M test, normally the harder one, was easy at least. But S doesn’t know if he should cancel mech score and retake next year.
D has to take the calc AB makeup due to WiFi/submission issues.
Hearing problems with the language app makes me anxious for both their AP Spanish tomorrow. This is when I leave the house so as not to hear screaming if things go wrong!
DS is supposed to be taking French world language exam right now. App never left practice mode after he had successfully signed in. His school is reporting others are having same problem today – no alternative but to sign up for the retake.
Better news today – D20 was able to successfully take the Microeconomics and the Macroeconomics tests this week. She did experience a glitch when trying to scan her answer sheet and had to do them twice each, but she was able to get them submitted on time.
Now she just has to see if they grant her the retakes for Calc BC and Physics.
Wow @cstp28, glad both Econ worked but that really stinks that both Calc and Physics did not. Mine has one left today (stat) but so far has had no issues submitting (Physics, Macro and Micro). Here’s hoping the positive trend continues!

Interesting. My son got a really hard one and says he realized, with about 2 1/2 minutes to spare, that his conclusions were correct but his approach was incorrect. He said it was so out of left field from what his coursework had prepared him for that he looked at the screen, thought about it, then decided he just wanted this whole thing to end and let it stand, submitting for (what he hopes is) half-credit. I asked if he would be fine with that in the end, and he said he can’t see how the colleges are going to honor this testing season’s scores anyway, so, yes, he can live with his decision.
I think at this point, though it would not have been my choice to offer up no correction, I will follow his lead.
@Luckyjade2024 : “Yes, I took my entire exam, verbally, on my phone. When I went to submit the app crashed. Nothing was sent or saved. But I didn’t even get a notification on the screen of what happened.”
I am very sorry to know this happened. This problem replicates what my son was told has happened during the language exam.
Hold tight to the advice in this thread and persist.
@Luckyjade2024 if the AP test doesn’t go well, have you contacted the college you plan to attend to see if there is a way you could place out of those 4 classes through the university? It seems that by speaking with a lead professor for the language and able to pass a final from the highest level you want skip, the university would want you to be in the higher level. Is the problem that they won’t give lower level credits if the AP test isn’t taken?
My son just made a frustrated attempt to take AP Spanish. He is another one who wasn’t able to get past the Practice Test once logged in. Very disappointing for him.
