2020 Fall Transfer Stanford

Hey guys, i just realized Stanford’s admissions decision’s time is at PDT, meaning all NY or east coast people have to wait about three hours after 4, so we’ll get our decisions about 7pm

@Amatheras It sounds like you have an incredible life story! Wishing you the best of luck and I hope you get in!!

Good luck to everyone! No matter what you’re all amazing.

@Amatheras your story sounds incredible, and I genuinely wish you the best of luck for later today. Though being an international myself, I just wonder what your plans are for paying for the education if you get in. You said that you had to work on your own to pay for CC; given that Stanford is so much more expensive, what are your plans?

PS: Hoping the best for everybody. Even if it’s not Stanford, it will hopefully be a great institution you all will attend.

@Amatheras I realized a lot of people from foothill applied to Stanford this year. What’s your major? Were you part of any club on campus?

@snakejyder Thanks dude! I’m 27 too, what a coincidence! I really wish you success this afternoon.

@DriFit For internationals not receiving financial aid, it costs at least 66k to attend any UC and 78k per year to attend Stanford (including room and board). Not exactly cheap, right? My parents sold our farm to real estate developers a couple of years ago, and fortunately that’s more than enough to pay for all my expenses wherever I wind up in the fall. Without that money, even getting a F1 visa would have been untenable for me. Wish you success!.

@amethyst2020pp if somehow, I miraculously get in, I’ll share everything here. Otherwise, it’s just a waste of space and time, isn’t it? Wish you luck if you have already applied or will apply next year!

Good luck everyone, my prayers are with you (and oh boy, with myself too)

Being a traditional four year university student, I just think I won’t get in at all even if I had the most spectacular extracurriculars. I feel that Stanford is looking for a unique and diverse class to include in their already spectacular student body.
I will soon find out about my sure predicament, but I’m wishing all non-traditionals on getting in!!!

got rejected brown, now idk how to feel about stanford. anyways, still wishing people luck!

the stanford portal looks different, they took out the message above the checklist

I got rejected from quite a few places, don’t let that get any of you down. I’m a firm believer that people end up exactly where they need to be and will thrive no matter the institution. ? Good luck everyone

i got into northwestern but rejected from brown and duke so im not holding much hope! good luck to everyone

Northwestern is a great school! Congratulations!

Good luck everyone. I am also drowning in rejection letters. I really wish they still mailed letters. Then at least you only have to get excited/depressed/stressed/random once a day with the delivery of the mail.

I plan on recording my email opening for my family. If it’s a rejection then it will get deleted if not…

Good luck everyone!

Guys literally don’t worry I got rejected from Duke, Brown, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, and somehow got into UChicago. If you are meant to be at a school you will get in! Stay positive!

I bet I’m the weirdo in this group. I applied to Stanford because I want to study classics and historical linguistics. I want to concentrate on archaeology within the classics major and concentrate on Mayan languages/culture with the historical linguistics part. There are only about 5 schools in the whole country where you can get all of that. Sadly, Stanford is one of them. Why sadly? Cause even though I’ve got a 3.9 GPA and A’s in all my classics and linguistics classes at the University of Vermont, I’m still a white male with A’s and B’s on my high school record and a 1400 on my SATs. (I got a 5 on the Latin AP and 800s on the two history subject tests I took but they don’t look at those for transfer applicants.) I don’t stand a chance.

The other schools that offer everything? Yale, Cornell, Duke, and Vanderbilt. Hooray! /sarcasm font/ Why couldn’t just one of them be a school that accepts in the double digits?
Tulane has a great Mayan program but not so much with the archaeology and William&Mary has a good archaeology program but not so much with Mayan languages/culture.

I’m into William&Mary though - with a better than expected financial aid package! Maybe I can find a way to learn a Mayan language as an independent study.

I got rejected by Duke. I’m waiting on Cornell/Vanderbilt/Tulane/Yale. And Stanford, of course, with the rest of you. Good luck to everybody!

Hey, transfer1280, when did you hear from Cornell? I’m still waiting to hear from them.

I was in the first wave

When did they start the waves? I wonder if it’s good or bad news that I haven’t heard yet. (I guess I’ll find out.)

2 more hours! How much emphasis do you think Stanford places on the essays that we’ve written?
