Thanks!

I prefer the other side of Adams toward USC. There are places on Adams itself that are fine, just not a fan of crossing that. In the Adams-Normandie area there are less students over there and it’s not in the patrol zone - it’s a little odd/sketch frankly -it’s not that it is all of a sudden dangerous, but it does feel “outside” of things if that makes sense. It’s good to stay within Vermont/Adams/Figueroa/Exposition square, or just right outside those - like plenty live just outside Vermont (large boundary area there) but not outside the Exposition side.

Hi there! Me again:) My mom is very worried about my safety. I am a rising sophomore. What campus apartment would you recommend being the safest and easy to walk to and from if I have no car.

Gateway. (University Gateway) And you rent by the bed like a dorm, meaning if your room mates bail you aren’t responsible for entire rent. It’s all USC students and as close to campus as you can be. Secure building and has good amenities, close to lots of food options. It’s a huge complex.

Update: Submitted SGR (both unofficial and official) this morning and already has a green checkmark.

Did not mean to respond to that post. my bad. My sister lived at gateway when she attended Marshall. Said it was good. You’ll pay a premium living really close to campus and leases fill up fast. Good complex tho.

Thank you!!

@CADREAMIN do you know much about transfer registration for classes? My stepchild originally had a meeting scheduled for July but they moved it to August 20. Is it common to have transfer students register 3 days before classes begin? Thanks!

Should I call usc admissions or my AO and ask them why I got rejected and tell them I appealed?

I just started the paperwork for Gateway for my daughter today. Everything close to campus is filling up fast. Icon only had 1 bed in a double left in the entire complex. She also will be without a car so being close to campus is ideal.

Good plan to get in now - she will be happy there - it’s as close to campus as you can be without being on it, just across the street! Everything she needs within a couple blocks. It has a nice pool/lounging area, fitness and getting packages is dependable. Apartments come furnished with everything they need, although the desks were clunky, but kitchen/lr area is efficient. No lugging in couches, etc!

I have also liked working with First Choice Housing as a property mgmt group. Guy there named Andrew is awesome. Not a fan of privately owned/managed houses, the owner seldom maintains them.

The Shrine is another nice/convenient complex, I’m just not a fan of Stuho as a property manager, but this one may be run better as they have people on site.

That makes this momma’s heart feel better since she’ll be across the country. Not that it’s her first time away from home but at her last school she was in a dorm.

I had one there a couple years for the very same reasons. It is very secure, card access for doors, elevators, etc. No one roaming around that doesn’t belong. Well stocked CVS with pharmacy is steps away and lots of typical college food (chipotle, subway, etc) just across the street. They do offer parking as an option (big garage attached to building) if student opts to get a car at some point. Mine lucked out and got a gorgeous view of downtown LA lights, but it really doesn’t matter, was just a nice perk. Responded to maintenance issues promptly - part of that is them learning how to deal with office staff there and not be jerky college students about things.

They get to feel they are “grown up” being out of a dorm and away from those restrictions, but truthfully, it is very much like one.
