2021-2022 USC Transfer

Usually done at orientation - did that get moved or just a registration appt? They can register on their own once their window opens, is that the Aug 20 time? Something seems little odd there.

While classes appear closed (some are), there are spots saved and an advisor professor can open spots as well for those registering late. It’s usually not a problem getting classes, at least the ones really needed for their major, although 8am may be the time…

There’s really no set date. In the year that I appealed, I heard back really late - it was already a week or two into August. I just received an email stating that my original decision was not overturned - I was still rejected. In the transfer appeals I’ve seen over the years, it seems that the successful ones hear back a bit sooner (my wait was about 6-7 weeks)? Of course, this is solely based on the few that have shared their successful appeals to this site. Then again, with how they waited to the last possible day to send out the majority of decisions, who knows if that possible trend might still be how they do things.

Is it true that USC bought gateway this year?

When I click on that link and hit reserve now, after registering, it tells me that no units are available.

I checked both one and two bedrooms for both shared and private and there are no options.

Yeah, thought this was odd and it was done at orientation. But wonder if they now think the stepchild is not a transfer and new and the system rescheduled? Anyhow, they will be contacting USC. Thanks for the advice.

No but they are using 600+ spaces for incoming freshman and sophomores since there was such a high demand for on campus housing this year.

USC Spaces at Gateway

Call them. That’s what I did and then filled out all the information online.

Thank you! Just finished my application. What are you doing for the required rental insurance?

Same. I completed everything today, so hopefully I can find a roommate and get approved:)

Your parents homeowner’s policy can add another renter’s policy or you can just go online to State Farm or any insurance site and get some online quotes, it’s super easy to get.

Glad you applied, I’ve always recommended Gateway but was concerned how much availablity there would be with USC using rooms. Honestly, it has always felt like a giant dorm there, without the restrictions to visitor, etc.

@mominstrs They did buy the USC Hotel a couple years back from Radisson and have used that for overlow of various things like when dorm flooded cause of broken pipe etc and it was used for covid quarantine of students earlier in the pandemic. This is the first time they are using Gateway for such a big undertaking! I was concerned about people getting in there this late in the game given the quantity they are using, but it is a HUGE complex.

Normally a lot of sophomores choose to live off campus (to get away from said restrictions) but this year they all want to live on it since they missed freshman year, totally get that. That’s a lot of squeeze on housing!

as CADREAMIN said I’m adding to my existing policy with State Farm.

Perfect! Thank you!

any spring transfers not receive an email about housing/housing portal? apparently we will be receiving an email about login info. hope im not the only one confused

I called USC housing today and was informed that it was highly unlikely that anyone other than freshmen would receive on campus housing. They told me that they will start looking at freshman admits on Friday and that they get priority. After that, all upperclassman and transfer admits are lumped into one group and each application is looked at on a “first submitted” first come basis. So the Upperclassman and transfer admits who have already applied for housing would go first. I am a fall admit and have not received any login information. They told me that I may receive my login information on Friday. I went ahead and secured off-campus housing because I did not want to wait until the last minute and then be out both options.

Do you know anything about the PIN that is needed to log into OASIS ( where you view your transfer credit retrieval)? I completed my USC Net ID login, which takes me to all of the other portals, but when I try to login to Oasis, it is asking me for a pin and I have never received one.

I got accepted on the 24th of May :sob:

I’m still shook!

It was like the 2nd or 3rd of June when I got my admit packet.

I’m still waiting for my financial aid package;

** btdubs, if you haven’t been consistently checking on your FAST link, make sure your submitting your docs ASAP because it takes foreverrrrrr

Housing should have mentioned the regular admit sophomores will also get housing as they are guaranteed (and why they took on Gateway to have more rooms). Maybe they just didn’t want to get in the whole “guaranteed for sophs that were there as freshman, but not guaranteed for sophomore transfer” conversation. Just to note, the upperclassman that may be “lumped” with transfers were able to apply long ahead of transfer acceptances. So in a first come first serve world, they are way ahead in the race.

As mentioned long ago, transfers should be looking at off campus housing while there are still great options available.

The PIN by default is MMDDYY, but that’s usually for people without a USC email. You should automatically be logged in when you click OASIS from myUSC. They probably just haven’t gotten around to adding you yet since you’re a relatively new admit. There’s probably not going to be anything too interesting there yet anyway. Transfer credit report stuff can take some time.

Oh ok good. Thank you!
