2021-2022 USC Transfer

Yes! Thats exactly what they said. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. However, I took your suggestion and completed the Gateway app. Looks like a great place and I’m feeling much more at ease.

I’ll give it a few days. I’ve tried all those combos but for some reason, Oasis is not automatically logging me in, even after logging into my portal. I just wanted to get an idea of transfer credits. I’ll try and sit tight😂

All good, I just tend to repeat and sum up things again as I know questions will be asked again, and again, and again by those just dropping by for the first time…

Yeah, it’s probably just like the housing application. Lots of people try to login right away, but it can take a few days. I’m guessing OASIS is similar and that’s why you can’t access it yet. The transfer credit stuff won’t start showing up for several weeks up until just before your orientation date. I think I showed the email in this thread, but my TCR (transfer credit report) was not finalized until 5 days before my orientation. They can be a slow department.

Hello, I got my acceptance on May 28 into Marshall as a Business Administration major for Fall 2021, but I just received my financial aid package today and got 0 financial aid, so as of now I would be paying around 82k a year. However, I understand you can extend your deadline to make your acceptance, so I was wondering if it would be worth it to also submit a CSS Profile even though I got nothing from FASFA? Also, does USC send out any other form of merit/need/scholarship aid that is separate from the FASFA or CSS Profile that I should look out for or talk to someone about?

I’m really sorry to hear you haven’t received any aid :(( I would definitely suggest creating a CSS profile and also contacting the financial aid office in order to let them know since I think this might be considered as an aid appeal because they’re going to have to reconsider your aid offer

We’re any of your prior classes not accepted? I took a year of basic freshman classes and classes in my major.

Definitely send the CSS profile since it reflects your financial need much better. You would have higher chances of getting aid, plus I hear USC is generous with appeals so def worth a shot

Just got back my financial aid and it’s a whopping $0. I’m basically fully pay. Ima kms.

Isn’t the CSS profile required to even get aid in the first place?

I’m so sorry! if you believe there’s a mistake and you actually deserve more aid you should definitely reach out to the financial aid office and appeal!

It seems about right. although my EFC is low (less than 1000), the CSS looks more into my parents’ assets even though they aren’t going to be helping that much. I’m not sure leaving 6 figures in debt is worth it for a Marshall degree.

omg I’m so sorry :(( I definitely hate how CSS views and looks at your assets in an inaccurate way. you can always try and talk to financial aid, you never know how you might luck out with them. it’s worth the try!

Thank you! I’m just hurt right now, although my family can afford it, I don’t know what to do. I hope I get off the UCLA waitlist. Other than that, I’m not sure what angle I can play for the appeal.

So this is the case for my daughter also. On myUSC it says " You may register for fall classes beginning at 9:00 am on Friday, August 20, 2021 . It’s bizarre. Obviously she hasn’t received an orientation date yet since she was just accepted 2 days ago. Maybe this is a default?

Not sure why it says that. I thought the move in date was 8/18. I was told (over the phone) that after she signs up for orientation, it should initiate a meeting with her counselor to choose classes.

Sorry about the news. FA is a real eye opener for many and there are many like you every year that realize they are full pay students. More than half of USC students are full pay, but a lot take loans to do it (which then they get termed as “getting aid.”) Counting loans as aid is the biggest misrepresentation colleges do with their numbers imo. If parents have properties, stocks, bonds, investements, a business - generally speaking, those and other assets are seen as things that can be sold to pay for college. I think kids see “oh we owe a lot on our house so I will get aid” but it is much more complicated than that. Even if full pay, every family has to decide if they can (or want to) really afford it or not.

Hey just wanted to let you know that I was admitted on June 7 and I received an email today with a special link that allowed me to register for Trojan 101 & 102, course registration and a USC spirit rally. There were three dates to choose from and the latest was August 5.
