Wow on a Saturday, Congrats!! What time did your decision come?

Also what major?

I guess suggesting they speed it up worked!

Welcome to the Trojan Family! Will you for sure attend?
:v: :v: :v:

They obviously have random spots coming up as people change their plans. But odd since she applied so much later than people that haven’t got a housing offer. It’s always a dance…don’t secure outside housing and hope something opens at USC even when they are telling people it is full, and risk being stuck in a dump outside of campus because you wait too long, or go ahead and secure something like a Gateway.

You can call Gateway and ask about the lease. There really is no magic about on campus housing, it’s more of a security blanket for people, while convenient, it’s not always that fantastic and has it’s own issues. So if you can’t get out of your lease don’t worry, Gateway will feel like a big dorm without all the rules and restrictions. And they are using it like a dorm this year, utilizing 600 rooms for ā€œon campusā€ housing. You can still get a dining plan if off campus, and at Gateway you have a full kitchen, so it’s tradeoffs. And while the Village is pretty, it is not a social environment, it’s all closed door hallways, again, tradeoffs. Both good options with plus and minuses.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes. If we can not cancel the lease with Gateway then my daughter will stay. Actually she has hard time to determine as Gateway is only $150/mo more expensive but seem to provide more things to offer and almost equally convenient. McMorrow just a little shorter distance.

Congrats to everyone accepted! Its been a while but I was wondering if anyone could answer some questions I had. (I was admitted as a spring admit so I have a free semester)

  1. I looked over my TCR and so far only 39 of my 68.5 completed units transfer over. I have one class that needs additional review, what do I do?

  2. Who can I contact at USC to figure out what classes I need to take at community college before my spring semester? or help me better understand my TCR?

  3. What should Spring admits be doing to figure out housing prior to enrollment?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I get that actually being on campus has a special draw for everyone’s first year there. Dorms are just the transition place to stay that makes parents and students feel better and safer that first year but they aren’t nirvana. Kids grow up an need independence and the choices that come with it. The Village is certainly nice (but not perfect) with everything there while being shiny and new. But there are other great options and Gateway is one of them. Good luck and I hope she is happy whichever one she ends up with!
