@KendraVixLi
i have been disconnected from everything lately so i’m late but CONGRATS!!! FTFO!!
@CADREAMIN hey could you tell me anything you know about housing vouchers pls?
I was admitted to Marshall for fall 2021 around a week ago and am still waiting for financial aid letter, anyone know when I can expect to receive that?
ooo.
Daughter got FA 25% above expected (via USC Net Calculator). Keep providing info that they asked for (about 15 documents) and you will have a fair chance.
Does anyone know/remember how to set up a payment plan for USC? Or will that be covered during orientation?? Like setting up securing loans and what not.
Has anyone had luck finding housing? Everything is sold out ):
You can check here, I’d ignore the “ad” type ones though. Are Gateway/Lorenzo/Icon/Tuscany/West 28th completely full now? Those are the biggies.
I was in your same position as a spring transfer back in 2018. Based on my experience I would say that you should expect to look for an off campus apartment. It’s frustrating but not a lot of spring transfers end up getting on campus housing (I only knew a couple of people that were able to). Thankfully, there are plenty of good options really close to campus that can be found through tools like housing facebook groups. Feel free to reach out if you want a little more info about what I think some of the better options are around campus for incoming spring transfers.
Are you looking for this upcoming semester or for the spring?
Sorry @clara1204, I don’t know anything about those, was thinking someone else may jump in…
Also spring admits should keep in mind that study abroad may be back for the spring semester, in which case people will have semester sublets in places like Gateway or other apartment/houses next to campus. That way you don’t start a 12 month lease in Jan, and then can look for something more to your liking (cause you are more familiar with area/met friends, etc) in the summer when the sublet ends.
Hi! so I was accepted to usc for spring 2022 and I really do not want to get backed up. I was also accepted to ucla but for regular fall term. can I attend ucla this fall and the drop out of ucla and attend usc for when I was admitted (spring 2022)? or will there be an issue in either of the 2 schools?
@they1234 I think this is out of our pay grade. However, I would suggest you contact your counselor and report back here for future applicants.
Yeah, this is pretty complicated. I will say that I committed to USC after I had already sent my intent to register to UCLA and was making plans to attend. I paid for housing and went to orientation. I was “Bruintized”. After learning of a brand new major at USC, I decided that I could wait for the spring as I had the feeling it would have been extremely difficult to pursue a similar major at UCLA. Anyway, I decided to withdraw from UCLA, but it wasn’t that easy. I had to go meet with a counselor at UCLA and they basically wanted to make sure that I knew what I was doing and if it was the right choice. He didn’t really lecture me or anything (I saw some USC swag, so I got the feeling that maybe he went to USC for his counseling degree or was a fan or something), but he just wanted to double check that I was sure of my decision. He gave me a handshake, wished me lucked, and that was it. However, this was in mid to late July. I would imagine things would be a bit more tricky once you’ve actually taken classes. If you’re on financial aid, that might be a little messy. I was able to get a refund for what I paid toward housing when they previously said no refunds are possible, but I guess I did check out of UCLA pretty early. You’d definitely need to get some advice from a counselor. Usually they suggest going to a CC or staying at your current institution for the fall to knock out further requirements (if there’s any to complete), but I’m not sure how it works if you’re attending a university you’ve never attended before.
hey guys!!! so after getting admitted for spring 2022, i’ve been thinking it would be a good idea to move down to LA (from chicago) because all my classes at my current institution are online. i’d like to get accustomed to the area and be involved with other USC students as early as i can. what do you guys thinking about this? i’d like some additional input/perspectives/advice
Copying post from main thread
Following the recent rise in coronavirus cases, USC will no longer permit students to submit a vaccine declination form and will only allow students with religious or medical exemptions to refuse the vaccine.
Before the increase, students would have been allowed to submit a declination form to the University regardless of medical or religious reasons until the vaccines were fully approved by the FDA, rather than the current emergency use authorization.
I was at USC yesterday - had a great Wahlburgers lunch at the Village - it was still pretty quiet around there, but always is a bit slow in the summer. Can’t wait to see a busy campus back this fall.
@CADREAMIN @zettasyntax hey guys, I’m originally a fall admit, but I will be deferring my admission until spring due to unexpected circumstances. is there anything that I should know in advance regarding internships, clubs, etc (I’ll be a student at Marshall)?
