@patlawyer ???your lawyer perspective is helpful. And your son seems to benefit
My d is not at this time worried or stressed about psu admit delay
She sent the email at my suggestion, we have received email replies from psu admissions before, so far same day
If we get a disappointing decision then we will strategize what’s next and she will call
I am a phone call person, I totally agree with your advice, just not for my d at this time
Hi guys! Just got accepted this morning finally! My major is biology and I was accepted into Eberly College of Science. They gave me a 2+2. First two years I’m at a common wealth campus and next two I could transfer to University Park, do you guys know what a commonwealth campus is? I have no idea.
Do you guys know how to access scholarship and falsa information? Just found out my first campus was Scranton, I’m not happy about that because I heard Scranton is a very boring area.
@MyaCocoa please understand that I have been looking at CC because I have a current HS Junior that will be applying next year (his major is unique) and I was not stalking. I just have an exceptional memory and genuinely care for individuals.
So good luck.
@CalinAmry congrats!!!
Ok I just called admissions. D is at school and I just thought oh wth, what if something is wrong with her application as some here suggested
So, called, waited only 5 min on hold, said d EA waiting since August (very politely) and was transferred to an admissions officer
Admissions officer took the psu id, looked up the application, said hmmmmmm, I can’t see any reason why no decision yet
Sorry about the delay, she said. She said she would review today and should have a decision Monday, she said again she was surprised when she looked st the application but many are in same boat
So now I at least have confirmed that application is ok, no mysterious reason why held up ?
Admissions counselor said there are many people unfortunately this year still waiting even though no apparent reason on the ap, she said so sorry happened
Of course I was gracious and thanked her and said I understand thousands applied
I didn’t plead a case or make any comments, just wanted to check to see if application was somehow flawed. It isn’t, so back to hoping and waiting
Hope we didn’t jump ahead of anyone waiting who didn’t call…part of my reluctance to press for an answer when I know others are waiting tbh
Though since d has been under review since 8/15 how many can be ahead of her at least by date lol. I don’t mind being squeaky wheel, I just have been trying to keep this mess on the down low for my d sake ?
But I finally thought best to check in case there was some hidden glitch as advised here by many
Glad at least to know now and that a counselor has noticed waiting since August
Thanks again for all the good wishes

Maybe Monday ???
@CalinAmry A commonwealth campus is one of the smaller campuses around PA. There is a really good thread on here about the commonwealths that will help you decide if 2+2 is a good choice for you. Some commonwealths are like a community college feel, some are commuter campuses, and some (like Altoona) are colleges that can stand alone in their own right. You can always call and see if they will switch you to a different commonwealth campus. Congrats!
@CalinAmry that means 2 years at a branch campus, did you specify which one you wanted if not offered main? The five considered commonwealth are: Penn State Abington, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Berks, Penn State Behrend, and Penn State Harrisburg.
I don’t think I want to attend this school, the diversity is very bad. What do you guys think is the second best campus? I’m looking for someone that’s diverse and active. Please help, I’m trying to change from Scranton to a different campus.
Something, not someone*
@CalinAmry You are an out of state student. If I were you, I would not choose a Commonwealth campus (especially not a small primarily commuter campus such as Scranton). You said in another thread that Temple, where you were already admitted, wasn’t prestigious enough for you. And yet Temple is more prestigious than a Penn State branch campus. Also, don’t expect much if anything in the way of financial aid (merit or need-based) from Penn State (or Temple for that matter). None of the Pennsylvania state-related universities give significant institutional aid to any but their top admitted students. Penn State is even worse in this regard than Pitt or Temple. If you have acceptances to instate schools you can afford, it would be better to choose one of those schools.
Okay thanks for your advice. It’s okay with me, penn state wasn’t high on my list anyway.
@CalinAmry I agree whole heartedly with @kidzncatz I am originally from the WB/Scranton area. While it’s not boring, it’s not Philadelphia. I also agree about the prestige and financial points.
@CalinAmry congratulations! I unfortunately can not give you advice on which would be the best Commonwealth campus for you, but I would highly suggest calling an Admissions Counselor at PSU to ask them to help direct you. At this point focus on getting the best option for you at Penn State, and then when you have all of your acceptances then focus on which university is the right choice.
@skibunny2 I didn’t think you were stalking! I just felt badly that, to me, your “handle” seemed new and yet you seemed to know my situation. It was a compliment for you and a “my bad” for me all in one!
@CalinAmry : I’d switch to Harrisburg or ask for summer session (if you can afford it)…but I’d only go to Harrisburg over Temple or UMass if it were significantly cheaper.
@citymama9 and anyone else who might know. Since those who’ve been accepted have already gone to student meetings, will there continue to be more meetings for students accepted even later? Such as, if my son is taken off the wait list say in late April and decides to attend PSU, will there still be meetings for him?
@myacocoa there should be accepted student programs until summer
@MyaCocoa I would check the calendar on the admissions visits site. Also, if for some reason they don’t still have them, but they should, a regular tour and info session would be fine, imo.

Check this page for current offerings. This is DUS. There are a lot in April. But currently none after.
