Ugh, this upcoming fall my last (third) one will be leaving the nest. I’m hoping to gets lots of advice from other moms who have gone through it too. I hear you–that will be a tough transition. I guess our job is to get ready to push our kids out of the nest but then—argggh!—what to do when we’re successful lol?

Many lasts this year but so many firsts ahead.
I have five kids - three close in age, then a 13 year gap and (surprise!) twins. The twins will be heading off to college this Fall, which will end a 37-consecutive-years-of-parenting streak. I’m wondering what I will do with myself!
Of course - I have three grandkids not far behind the twins… lol
In my case, I’ve never given up my own hobbies and interests. I am really self-motivated and can easily fill any day. I thought that being as I am, I would have LESS of a problem with my child(ren) going off, but not so. If I stop to think for two seconds I would burst out crying. All the would have/could have/should haves on top of it all. I didn’t cry when my kids started school or anything like that. I was always excited and happy for them moving forward. I still am, but now what I feel very deeply is everything I am losing.

To me, being a stay at home mother was my life’s ambition. I have enjoyed each moment, founded my own business which eventually meant I could be at home with my two, 7years apart. Not rich in $$$, but we have all we need and the time with the kids at home was priceless
Now I’m looking forward to exploring my options next fall, to see what the next chapter of my own life brings
Will always be mom of course, but I’m eager to be just me again too 
@marniefaerie Any news about Schreyer, or your D’s overall application to PSU?
I thought for sure, having been out all afternoon, that I would come back to read some very excited posts from people who did get some update from Schreyer, but nothing at all? Does anyone know if the portal updated at 3:30 PM today as people were told to expect?
@MyaCocoa thank you for checking up on us! Schreyer did post a decision right on time at 3:30, but unfortunately for us it was no decision. ?
“Currently, you do not have a final admission offer from the Penn State Undergraduate Admissions Office, therefore we are unable to confirm the status of your Schreyer Honors College application.
If you do receive an offer of admission from Penn State, your Schreyer Honors College status will be updated on this website the following Monday.”
I can’t really complain because we are awaiting our 2nd decision, and others (@ziveli513) haven’t heard anything at all yet!
Frankly, I am doubtful she will get into Schreyer since she didn’t get into Smeal. She worked sooooo hard on those essays though! If nothing else, it has been a learning experience for her. Hopefully we will hear an admissions decision soon, and really hoping she is admitted!

First, I had to laugh (in a negative - but not at you - way) at the “following Monday” quote, because there are a lot of Mondays coming up and that is SO noncommittal as to when PSUAO might have an answer! So if they answer on a Tuesday you wait 6 more days for Schreyer? Which Monday? A Monday in 2019? Or what? OMG!
Oh, I think there is plenty of reason for ALL of us to complain!!!
But to set aside my sarcastic humor, there are things I noted when we visited that might be good for someone who is interested in some distinction, but for whom Schreyer might not be right (like my son, who did not apply). Would you like me to dig in my literature to refresh myself and let you know, in case these are things you are not aware of? Of perhaps you can ask me if your D is admitted? Either now or later is OK with me.

@ziveli513 Congrats!!! I have really been pulling for you and your daughter! What a long wait for both of you, but so happy that the ball is now in her court!! I have been watching with interest because I have a junior at PSU (she is currently studying abroad for a semester) and one of my twins (senior this year) is deciding between Pitt, Duquesne Honors College, PSU Smeal and John Carroll for business/finance. Her twin sister is a recruited athlete for track and commmitted last fall to a school in the Atlantic 10 (turned down PSU…it was one of her 5 official visits but she fell in love with another school). My daughter who is considering PSU currently has strong reasons for each of her potential schools. She applied either 10/31 or November 1 to smeal (by EA deadline) and got accepted in December the day before they deferred so many people. Your wait time would have sent me over the edge. Haha. I am much more impatient than my daughter is. Best of luck no matter what your daughter decides. Our girls could be classmates at either Pitt or PSU!
