No news on getting off the wait list as of yet, but I AM excited that my son and I are going to see Altoona this weekend AND we are able to piggy back on an accepted students’ day there! That was TOTAL chance and not planned.
With May 1 quickly approaching and my son’s interest in The Other school (U of Denver) fading more and more, we simply have to know where Altoona stands in his opinion.
I am very excited to have this very last road trip with him, whatever else happens.
@MyaCocoa not sure if you or your son received a financial aid update, but today we received one offering $24,000 over four years in an attempt to get students to commit to a Commonwealth campus. The catch is that the full amount is only good if all four years are spent at the Commonwealth school. 2+2 admits (such as my son) would lose the last two years ($14,000) if he transfers over to University Park campus. Sort of counters the 2+2 option benefit
Did you receive that offer on your portal or in an email?
The details were broken out in an email but it also refer us to go back into the Financial Aid portal to see the revised offer. The original offer was a joke meaning zero aid.
@spqr70nj Congratulations on that offer! I hadn’t heard of anything like that. We don’t qualify for financial aid, but maybe if they become desperate enough they will try to bribe us!
@MyaCocoa neither do we! Only two schools poured in aid for us which was totally unexpected - Syracuse and Buffalo. So PSU surprised us, but after reading the fine print we realized why. Nice gesture but my son decided to move on from PSU considering we’re OOS.

The portal has updated! “We have completed our review of the Penn State wait list. Please allow 3-5 business days for your admission decision to be posted here.” Whoo hoo! An answer will be coming at last! And at least not in May!

@dairyqueen How is that possible? Are you international? Rolling? When did you apply? Sounds like everyone who WAS on the wait list is now OFF the wait list - somehow or other.

@MyaCocoa I applied rolling, submitted my app March 2nd.
Just called admissions and they informed me that my son is in the February pool of applicants and that a decision will be coming in the next week or two. Just an fyi for anyone in the same boat.
